really stupid anti-drug advert

i saw this billboard today, that had a picture of a little girl on it, and (in super huge letters) the text: "LSD user at age 9. Educated mother at age 29."

wtf? first of all, is there really a big problem in this country with pre-teens using LSD? second of all, what the fuck does that have to do with being an educated mother or not? third of all, i really hope my tax dollars didn't pay for that sign...

that's what i couldn't figure out; because reading it from my perspective, it was almost like "using LSD allowed this girl to realize what is really important in her life and raise smart healthy children the right way". but i highly doubt that was the intent.

on a similar note, there's this other billboard that has a large (adult) hand hading a fishing lure to a small (child's) hand, and it says, "one day a week can keep your kid away from drugs" the funny thing is, from any distance at all, the fishing lure looks a lot like a joint. :grin:

Hrmm, how is using LSD at 9 leading to an educated mother at 29 a bad thing? I'd say 29 is a reasonable age to have a child. Especially if she is educated. What, graduate Univ in your mid-late 20s, have 4 years of working on your career and relationship, then popping out a child at age 29? not such a bad thing I'd say.


Or, are they saying 'if you dont spend a day a week with your child, they will be using LSD at age 9, instead of becomming an educated mother at age 29?"

It sounds to me that they want to point out that preteen LSD is a remedy against teen pregnancy :grin:
