oysters and pink oyster?

Hey guys i have never cultivated edible mushrooms before and a friend is sending me two cultures oysters and pink oysters can anyone tell how they maintain temps to initiate pinning and cropping temp for an indoor tek i could probobly achieve these temps under my house but not consistantly how would this affect my crop and a drop under 55 degrees and above 64 degrees. thanks for your help.

Pleurotus are very adaptable to a wide temperature range, they can survive even near freezing temp. Pink oyster is a tropical species and prefers warmer temp.
I think that optimal (fastest growth) spawn temp's are around 75F (24C), and a little lower for fruiting.

OK so The Mushroom Cultivator puts it at this
Spawn Run78-84 deg F. thats easy
Pinhead initiation 55-60 deg F. a little harder things starting to heat up now. How about cold shocking in the fridge or is this too cold? Also it says 7-14 days does it really take this long to initiate pinning?
Cropping 60-64 deg F. still hard but more doable
I'll still be shooting for these optimum temps. still, but you think some deviation won't be a problem?
And the pink oysters you think a little warmer temps as far as pinhead initiation and
cropping (probably closer too where i'll be anyway) spawn run we wouldn't want warmer than 84deg F. would we? thanks again for your help!!

The Oysters are fun because they give very fast results, and taste great too!
And dont forget the "elm Oyster"...(not a pleurotus).
I make culture syringes, shoot up brf cakes ala PF, then spawn to almost anything...paper products, woodchips of all kinds, straw....
My new favorite is aspen woodchips, foud at pet stores, or in the woods.
They can run thru a large bag in under a week.
The Elm fruits out of petris like mad!! lol

I started a culture from a store bought oyster on h2o2 agar on thursday and it just sat there doing nothing until today, when it became covered in primordia! Strange...

Well ive only just started on oysters - thanx to fortyounces and feito - and i must say i am impressed - i made some mycelia syringes from a petri and innoculated some 500ml jars of brf that i spawned a large block of cardboard shredded and brf to stick it together.
The mycelia is wierd - it looks like comweb at first and is a grey colour - i chucked my first to 500mlers but kept the last to be sure and it thickened up white all over - i chucked too perfectly good jars! Love the smell too - they are jsut starting to form primordia now outside in the cold - look nice!

I have grown both of those mushrooms from cultures in my hall at room temp. 68-73 degrees F. In a plastic box with about two inches of wet perlite. A drop below 55 degrees might effect the Pink Oyster because it is a tropical mushroom. I believe it would only slow the growth of either. Freezing temperatures will kill the Pinks.

I fruited them in a plastic box with about two inches of wet perlite. A drop below 55 degrees might effect the Pink Oyster because it is a tropical mushroom.
