NO! Crockpots dont get even close enough to being hot enough and are meant to slow cook and keep food at serving temps for 24 hours or more.

LMAO, if that worked i woulda saved 80 bucks by not buying a pressure cooker. like jammer said, they dont get hot enough, all it would do is make a nice bath for the germs/bacteria.

A strong possibility is that the weakest mold spores/germs/bacteria might be killed leaving the strongest ones to take over. This question has been asked before, however I can respect anyone's question about the use of hardware that one already has in there kitchen.

If you can get it to boil, you're good to go.
You still might want to put a rag on the bottom. Crock pots heat from both the sides and the bottom, if I remember correctly.

Just get a big metal pot, and like hitler said: put a rag or two on the bottom and then set the jars on there, boil, and the steam in the pot does sterlize OK for brf/verm.

I'm wondering about crock-pot for pasturizing manure - you could put it outside and not stink up the house.

As various people have indicated...NO, a crockpot won't suffice. Infact, you'll probably PROMOTE growth of thermophiles. (FYI, extreme thermophiles actually REQUIRE temperatues of 80-110c to reproduce).
In microbiology, we generally assume that all spores at killed at 121c. Now, we also now that at sea level (~760 torr) water boils at ~100c which isn't actually hot enough to guarantee all microbes dead.
If you remember back to high school physics/chemistry you'll note that by reducing pressure enough, you can do clever tricks like getting water to boil at room temperature (vapour pressure reduction). The tranverse is true, and you can super-heat water by increasing pressure.
Incidentally, you need pressure of ~1500 torr (mmHg) for water to boil at 121c -- that's approximately 15lbs (psi) of pressure -- which coincidentally is the pressure level used for pasturization in canning.
Hope that clarifies things a little bit.

RE: "I'm wondering about crock-pot for pasturizing manure"
As I recall proper pasterzation temps is around 180 F - I think that a crock pot might be very pushed to keep this temp. Whenever I have used one I was very lucky to get one up to boiling, then when I took the top off the boiling stoped (this is based on my paticular crock pot)
Even if a crock pot gets hot enough to pasterize, it would be a very slow process and all of the pasterzation teks that I have seen would have to be "tweaked" (re-writen) to work with a crock pot.... but who knows?
