I'd rather have my head pop off then survive the initial fall and choke to death. Or have some of the other things that have happened to people executed in the US. People catching fire and having blood shooting out of every orifice on the electric chair, people who don't respond to lethal injection properly and die and sow painful and conscious death. And the very fact that other countries, other than Iraq, use forms of execution infinitely more cruel than your head popping off like stoning.

If you believe that the death penalty is the way to go these things are par for the course. If you don't, you are probably just using this is as another excuse to get rid of the current administration. There are hundreds of other things better than this.

This execution, just like Saddam's, shows the level of professionalism and sophistication the Iraqi government has----absolutely none. Although this is not the pivotal mistake of the administration, it does show that a simple calculation could have been derived from well established procedures of hanging executions.


Just because the guys head popped off, did not mean he did not feel pain, as dead men tell no tales.

Death in any form is going to involve a degree of pain.

These people were hanged, because that is the way they do things in Iraq.

The Iraqi people would not have believed any other form of execution. They wanted/needed to see this guy swinging from the end of a rope.

The biggest mistake was trying to keep it a hidden/secret execution.

It should have been filmed in IMAX and presented on Iraqi TV for the whole nation to see.

Aliens from outter space to the Iraqis: Capital punishment is wrong because it's painful to the accused and strips them of their right to life. It is also simply an act of revenge.

seriously... Iraq is in the midst of a very intense period in its history. Considering that the U.S. was still hanging people in the 1990's, the Iraqis using one of the cheapest forms of execution should probably be everyone's last worry. Saddam and the other two fellas are also not the only ones to have been executed. The Iraqi government executes dozens of people monthly, mostly captured insurgents.
