hp lovecraft
    #6463720 -

anybody else really like his stuff? i love all his short stories. theres been a few great movies on his stories too, but something is definitely lost when putting it to film. just saw stuart gordon's masters of horror episode dreams in the witch house yesterday and that was an awesome adaptation, although that's a short story of his that i havent read yet.

oh, and i love that there's a cthulhu smiley too

:cthulhu:

Yes! Lovecraft is the man! Absolute genius. He will tuck Poe in to bed and sing him a lullaby. My personal favorites are the Dream-Quest of Unknown Kadath, The Silver Key, Through the Gates of the Silver Key, The Dunwich horror, At the Mountains of Madness, The thing on the Doorstep, The Colour Out of Space, shit I like them all and could go on forever. Highly recommended to everyone on this board!

I've never read his stuff but I've heard good things.

I like the Metallica song Call of the Ktulu and even have a plush Ktulu but have never read the story :frown:

If you have any suggestions on which books to pick up it would be greatly appreciated

I recommend starting with Bloodcurdling tales of Horror and the Macabre as most of his best stories are included.

#1

#2 - My favorite

#3

Those are the 3 that I have, I'm pretty sure they've got most if not all his works...

Definitely read him though.  He's the only psychedelic horror writer I've ever come across.

i like some of his stories...they're all really strange. i found a cool torrent with a whole bunch of them in audio book format and they're all done quite well with actors and ambience...kind of like an old radio show. it's fun to listen to.

Cool I didn't know there was a new movie based on one of his writings out, looks like it's getting horrible ratings though. I take it you enjoyed it?

I thought it was very well done; the viewer gets to experience OEVs from the character's POV and i thought it had a great story-line. I rented it from netflix, but yeah it was definately better than the rating that it got IMO.
