If I ate a strange mushroom (I wouldn't) and had no idea what it was, I would be in a doctors office freaking out.

actually, im not gonna sit on the fence about it, that WAS in fact a poisonous mushroom. probably enough to kill someone.

you either A. knew this and are trolling
or B. are lying

i dont think a new father would take such a stupid blind risk.

yeah, apparently, he doesnt have many posts, and one of his first was about how becomming a father was a great thing to him....

guess some people just cant handle having it so good, they gotta go eat poisonous mushrooms out of a tank of poisonous frogs then post it online.

sometimes i just gotta scratch my head. odds are he will live, but the damage bicyclic octopeptides can do in small ammounts is life-changing (and shortening)

mushroom hunting 101, dont eat wood-loving mushrooms with reddish brown caps and rusty orange spores. they are deadly.

duh. sorry, i dont respect anyone who can make such a poor choice with so much at stake and so much information at hand.

Id like to go easy on him and call him ignorant, but he posted asking what people thought about the shroom, and then goes and eats it any ways and laughs about it. That would be one embarrassing story "Mom why is daddy gone?", "Because dear, he decided to eat a poisonous mushroom in his poison dart frog tank". I hope everything is fine.

Alright, assuming this is real (which it is probably not, it's still best to play on the safe side for now), you should seek immediate medical attention. If possible, try and bring along any specimens that may be left. If none are left, you may want to bring a copy of those photos with you. The reason for this is, the doctors can contact professionals and attempt to get them identified, so that they will have a better idea of how to treat the poisoning.

If you actually are poisoned, the longer you wait, the less of a chance there will be that something will be able to be done about it... so don't wait to you are very ill to go get help, or it could be too late.

I wonder if some people think they will get a more urgent response if they say they ate something already? Could that be the motivation behind some of these past hoax threads?

i dont understand.
why would you come to the shroomery of all places to piss people off.
if this isnt a hoax then sort it out and go to the hospital.

ive been here a short time and seen quite a few of these and its really pissing me off.

this is the kind of shit that could get the shroomery into trouble.

Yeah, there have been quite a few of these over the years. I've seen countless ones in my time here. Some were even caught because of using pictures that were from google image, after I searched the file names and found the exact same image of a deadly mushroom that a person had just found via search and acted like they took the photo.

With this one, the photos seem more genuine, but this still doesn't help figure out if the person really ate it or not.
I'm leaving this open to wait from a response from him. If this is proved to be "fake", a ban will be made.

Judging the discoloration on the ring it looks like a yellowish cinnamon color.

If you are serious that you ate this thing seek medical help immediately.

Galerina species have a latent period of little symptoms that can last hours to three days, during which unbeknowst to you massive tissue damage is inflicted. When afterwards symptoms do become noticable, most of the damage has already been done. Medical intervention during this latent period may be vital to your health.

If that is a fully active Galerina you might need a liver or kidney transplant between wednesday and friday.

If he was serious, which I highly doubt, he wouldn't qualify too high for a liver transplant... He may have very well poisoned himself knowingly.

That's a bit like committing suicide with a hammer, isn't it? Galerinas (if the mushroom was one) can be one of the worst ways to go.

well, destroying angels and death caps are all pretty much the same toxins. conocybe filaris is another common culprit.

hope he pulls through, he is probably feeling the first cycle of the octopeptide reaction right about now.

either that ro hes just having a good chuckle, he was just online.

Wow...I guess my humor is a little off...I guess you guys get some real clowns here huh? Sorry if I freaked anyone out. I was JK. I guess that taught me about the mood around here. I promise I am responsible and cautious enough to never truly do that. I won't even eat wild found mushrooms out of paranoia. Sorry if anyone got freaked out. If a mod wants to close this then go for it. I thought you had to be 18 to be here? If this is going to turn any young minds, then we can't have that. Take care all.

yeah, humor like that is really not cool.
It DOES succeed to draw attention to the risk involved with eating mushrooms.

but pay close attention, we HAVE had people on this forum DIE.

lately, we take this shit quite seriously.
