I could agree with that if you meant simulated child porn. But actual child porn is just fucking wrong because even if you weren't involved in the production itself, children were still raped and abused to create it and no one should be allowed to support that w/out some serious penalties.

I don't look at kid porn and I'm not going to either, but what can possibly be disgusting about a naked kid? Not talking hardcore here, but the only thing gross is possibly the concept of exploitation.

I sense a lot of pre-conditioned fear-mongering in the law's treatment of these cases. Tho I am not aware of what kid-porn-ers turn out to do, ex. rape kids. But if the worst they do it look at a naked kid then the whole thing is a joke.

Then you're punishing for association. That's wrong. Punish whoever abused the kids, but if you don't allow personal freedoms that don't infringe on others - such as a home viewer's viewing - then you're playing the exact same role as the gov't is playing against your personal freedoms concerning drugs right now.

You may not like it, but they didn't act out against a human being, wheras the abuser would have - and that's the crime.

You obviously don't have kids of your own, or if you do I hope to god their other parent is a bit more concerned with their welfare. If someone raped and taped your kids (real or hypothetical), then a bunch of scumbags bought the tapes.. you think those purchasers should be left alone to masturbate to the image of your kid being sexually abused? I'm sorry, but financially supporting a criminal act is illegal and in this case it happens to be morally repugnant as well.

A child can not a) legally enter into a contract (for compensation), or b) give informed consent. So it's still abuse and exploitation, legally, and in my opinion, morally as well.

Who got raped? If a kid gets raped the parents are going to hear about it. If it stays quiet and the kid ends up on the net then I think that's a clear sign that is was consentual with no rape involed.

Kid porn is a case of children being taken advantage of, not raped.

Yeah I saw it on 20/20 last night as well. Don't worry, the kid got off fine. He was just a 16 year old kid who looked at regular adult porn, and through Spyware and shit had 9 images of underage girls somewhere in his computer's temporary internet files

They explained that real child pornographers keep their computers clean, and use spam/spyware to essentially hide the images on some unprotected PC and then access them that way.

I'm pretty sure that's all kid porn is. If the kid were ever put in an uncomfortable situation or felt abused that would not be hidden from their parents. The only way a child can successfully end up on the net is if no attention has been brought to the involved people.

I doubt people are posting crying, torn and bleeding babies on the net that are screaming "mommy! mommy!"

One of the mods, years and years ago, had what looked like it was maybe 3 smiling kid girls holding a mushroom as a pic in his avatar. I'm almost certain that kid porn could never possibly involve rape, because that would be impossible for a kid to hide.

Sorry, minors can not give informed consent. In other words, they can not give legally binding consent in the eyes of the law. I'm not even sure why people are so quick to defend people who financially support child pornography. Exploiting minors is against the law, but it seems like some people here don't agree with that. Maybe it's so they can cheat on their spouses with the little girl who lived down the lane?

Surely there are better causes than child pornography to champion?

Easy there buddy, I was in no way, shape or form defending child porn; that shit disgusts me to an inexpressible degree.
