Do your friends get sick of you talking about psychedelics/drugs?
    #6441538 -

I think some of mine definitely do get sick of me rambling about them.  Recently, with a growing amount of freedom due to a less strenuous financial situation, I've been able to devote a lot of time to pursuing the objects that I find most intellectually stimulating...which means reading voraciously and building up my psychedelic library more and more every week (and dwindling that financial cushion at online bookstores.)

My roommate came home the other day to me and AniNator watching a Terence McKenna video, I thought he was going to puke. And last night he confessed to me that when the word "psychedelic" comes out of my mouth, he tunes me out.  Oh well. :ohwell: I tune him out most of the time that he's talking about football, so it evens out.

The Shroomery's a fine outlet, but lord do I wish I had more flesh and blood friends that actually liked to talk and think about this stuff as much as I do.

My girlfriend used to get sick of it, then after 3 months out of the country she came back wanting to do psychedelics for the first time in 2 years. ANd now seems really interested when I tell her about the different things I've been reading about. It's refreshing.

no man i got me some new friends! susceptibly curious ones :yesnod:

but i regulate myself i think, i hate on myself a bit when i find myself saying things about psychadelics... again. so hopefully i dont bore/aggravate anyone too much, i tend to cut it out, and step over the threshold into talking about enlightened things (...) possibly i piss them off with that but i think they are more... um i wouldnt say awed but interested, which is cool.

all the chat with my more oldschool friends is well established, it basically takes the form of 'fuck that shit' but every so often will descend in an instantaneous, cosy and familiar way into the substance abuse we so know and love

notorious anti pill friend of mine recently ended up doing some, first time. it was so cute, he was sending me all texts and shit, lol he'll be a pill head in no time. get the guy on them when we go to Roger Waters in may. will be sweet. them and teh shroom

i think the shroomery is a fantastic outlet, gets it all out of my system on one hand, encourages me on the other. i think the quality of the forum lends itself to the 'enlightened' arena of communication so thats gotta be a big plus. more that and less 'yeah man i looked at a map of the world and the sea turned to blood and i realised all the symbols were actually inside my head and the colours were the only things outside and then red riding hood called for me...' and so on. so, thats good. probably.  :mushroom2:

I don't really talk about psychedelics too much to my friends. Although alot of my friends use them, we don't talk about it that much. I get annoyed at people that just talk about drugs all day. I almost never talk about it with people I don't know. That's the main reason I cut my hair...I hated when people would come up to me and start talking about pot or drugs just cause I had long or was wearing a tie-die/band/festy shirt. It's like people think thats the only thing you do, or the only thing you care about just because the way you look. That shit gets old. I will openly talk about my experiences, but try to avoid all the drug talk.

I have one friend who is as equally interested as I am, but he lives on the other side of the country now, so I don't get to talk to him often.

No. All of them are prety open minded. I have some friends that are not as interested though, like one friend, he doesn't drink, or use any drugs, except coffee and cigs. But the reason we get along so great(one of the reasons..) is because we don't judge each other, and he realizes the difference between pot, and meth, and mushrooms and crack. And so on.

He doesn't like to smoke pot cause he is such a bitch, it lays him out, and he feels sick sometimes, he is a great guy, but is is literally about 100 pounds, he is a little bitch, yet somehow he manages to smoke tobacco and not cannabis.

I think in the coming years some of my friends are going to get deeper into psychedelics again, and I hope I can help them out with that , but for now, I am the "expert" among my group.
I have another friend in University that feels he is "done with" all psychedelics pretty much.... here is a guy that loves Huxley, and yet he has never tried mescaline!!, I am going to try and help him out with that, so he can REALLY understand what gratuitous grace is all about  He says he is done with tripping....yet he drinks hard alc, beer, coffee, and smokes cigs.
(yuck!)

I hope my book (in the works) encourages a few friends to rediscover the beauty, it will be call Ignoring Elusis: (with s subtitle I cant settle on!!! that basically says something like.... The joys of psychedelics, and fears surronding them,  or  Denial, misinformation, and phobia, the war on psychedelic plants and substances)

Trouble is, with all the newer research, it seems things are going "our way" a little more, and genuine research is being done more then ever,.. so I will have to tone down some of the negative attitude in the book, and thats ok, I would rather put more fresh research in anyway, so ya, I'm the drug geek.

Out of the three people I've really talked about psychedelics to, one decided she wanted to try them, did large amounts of E on a near-daily basis, and is only really getting over it now. So no, I don't really talk about psychedelics anymore to my friends.
