Police seize $540m worth of ecstasy chemicals

POLICE have seized chemicals which have the potential to make an estimated $540 million worth of ecstasy, in one of the biggest drug seizures in Australian history.

A joint police operation seized 1900 litres of a chemical believed to be methylenedioxyphenyl-2propanone, otherwise known as liquid ecstasy, in Sydney's northwest about 8pm (AEDT) yesterday, police said.

The NSW State Crime Command's South-East Asian Crime Squad, Victorian Police and Australian Federal Police raided an industrial complex in Castle Hill where they found the chemical which had the potential to make up to two tonnes of ecstasy (MDMA).

The fire brigade and hazardous materials teams were called in to assist, as was the drug squad's specialist clandestine laboratory section.

The seizure would have a "national impact" on the domestic drug market, a top police officer involved in the bust said today.

"It's such a large amount, with the potential of two tonnes of MDMA to hit the streets, that it would have, I would assume, a huge disruption to the marketplace [and] should have, I hope, a national impact," said Commander of the NSW South East Asian Crime Squad, Superintendent Deborah Wallace.

The raid follows the seizure of 340 litres of the chemical, with the potential to make $51 million worth of ecstasy, by Victorian Police in Geelong on December 18 last year.

Two men were charged over the December raid.

We dont have little ecstasy. Last figures that came out in early '05 stated that Australia is the highest user of ecstasy per capita in the world. It is everywhere here, so easily obtainable its ridiculous.

I think this is the first bust that i think will have an effect on alot of people.

Hmmm, I could of swore I read somewhere on a drug site that Australia lacked MDMA, and that pills were going for as high as 50$ American since there was such a short supply.

Well its good to hear your side of the story saying there isnt a shortage of supply. In Edmonton where I live, there is a waaay higher supply than demand, but that just means pills are real cheap here

Thats a horrible price. I know a lot of people who have them available across the country for $8.00 to $10.00 a pill. However, I do not like the pills because of the greed involved. I prefer a gram of 8 doses that is hydochloride rather than a tab or sulfate base.

Pure crystals. Snort them and they burn the fuck out of your nose but the high is great when the nose burn leaves or just drink them in a soda.

Years ago before it was made illegal in the u.s.a, I watched a kilo made in 24 hours in a private lab. And sometimes even more at one time over night.

I find here that the larger X busts are Israeli's smuggling tablets into the USA. They always get caught and they are always usually originate from Israel. Hehehe!

That takes the cake. And these are huge X busts with like 1,000,000 doses at a time. That is greed and that is a bust.

Now what will Mel do since his future supply of x has just been confiscated?

No way. Never heard of pills being $50US here. Thats beyond outrageous.

Highest i have paid is $35 Australian, nowadays its 20-25 each. I wouldn't pay higher than that. Besides, everything is overpriced here, a gram of coke is 250-300, meth is up to $500 a gram so its not unusual for shit to be expensive here.

Nah thats Australian. Works out to be between $195 and $230 US. Its rediculous here. The cheapest i have EVER heard of a gram of coke selling for is $200 and that was on one occasion and ive never been able to get it again.

pills in tasmania (au) go from $35-$50AU depending on pill type and availability. highest ive heard of being paid is $80, in bulk down here from a good source you will pay about $20 a pill for a 50 pack, but that's because i don't really take the time to source out cheaper deals and i never really buy pills that often anyway so i dont give a fuck, doesn't phase me. i'd go to somewhere like melb or adeliade if i wanted to bulk buy pills ($5-$10AU for 50 pills)

edit - coke in tasmania is $300-$400 AU a gram, for really really cut gay weak as piss shit that's not worth the price. the drug market down here is fucked up... except weed is in massive abundance, cheap and excellent quality, but avoid the hydro.

Yeah xk3m i feel your pain man, although Melbourne by the sound of it isn't as bad as Tassy.

I dont even buy coke here, i have never found anything worth buying. I estimate the majority to be about 20% pure which is utter garbage. I laugh at the people here who think they have pure shit.

We do seem to have quality acid, and decent pills. Even then, in small quantities acid is $20-25 a hit. I hear all you people in the US complain that its not $3-4 a hit anymore. Shit if it was even 7-10 here i'd be laughing :smile:

$200 a us gram for COKE...wow a 15 min drive will get you a ball in new england usa for $130 ....a ball is 3.5 grams...pure 80-90%
