Mushrooms also in trailer may be hallucinogenic

Acting on a tip, police seized 11 live marijuana plants and about 200 mason jars containing suspected hallucinogenic mushrooms from an unoccupied trailer in East Manchester Township.
Northeastern Regional Police arrested trailer-owner Daniel Eugene Toomey on July 31 -- the same day they raided his trailer, armed with a search warrant.
Toomey, 28, of 46 N. Front St., York Haven, remains in York County Prison on $150,000 bail. He's charged with felony marijuana possession with intent to manufacture or deliver and misdemeanor counts of possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
Northeastern Regional Chief Darryl Albright said more charges are pending, if a state police crime lab determines the jars contain illegal psilocybic mushrooms.
Police said Toomey's trailer is on a rented lot, No. 142, in the Starview Mobile Home Park, 4775 N. Sherman St. He paid $4,500 cash for the trailer in October 2000, police said.
Local crop: According to charging documents, Toomey told an informant he grows pot in cornfields "from Manchester to Glen Rock."
Northeastern Regional Detective Brian O'Melko, assisted by members of the county's Drug Task Force and Sheriff's Department, found pot plants several feet high growing under fluorescent lights in a heated rear bedroom, the walls of which were lined with foil, to reflect light, police said.
Also seized was dried marijuana, police said.
Unlike other busts by Northeastern Regional Police, this one involved growing plants, Albright said.
"This is the first marijuana operation we've come across in my 25 years of being here," he said.
He said no one was living at the trailer.
