Airing out wet PF substrate jars?
    #643390 - 05/24/02 12:15 PM (22 years, 8 months ago)

I have a few PF Teck BRF/Verm jars that are one week into their lives. Most of the jars have the proper balance of moisture and are responding with plenty of white growth, however some of these jars are obviously too wet from the boiling process.

What should I do about these jars? Is there any advantage to taking the lid off and letting it air out a bit? I realize its opening it up to contamination, but considering its not growing at all, nothing lost by trying to take action to get the moisture out.

Any suggestions? Thanks

Assume that your jars are currently sterile and will continue to grow, however slowly. (if you have already innoculated) I'd suggest keeping these and ordering some filter disks, then sterily putting the filter disks on the jars and letting them dry under a fan.

Just wait for the disks. you don't have to waste the jars.

Id say let them be.
