Help! Someting nasty growin in my martha!

I'm gettin this black builup in the tubes comin from the humidifier to the Martha. Anybody see this before? Its difficult to clean out. Disconnecting the hoses is a pain in the ass so any advice on how to prevent this would be great. Thanks.

is that something that fell in there or something that grew in there?

If its something that grew in there its a serious no no!

I would get new tubes personally. As far a solution goes.. I would just try to make everything cleaner from the humidifier to the tubes to the martha. Best way to avoid contamination is to prevent rather than get rid of after the fact.

Probably mold, just my guess,
when you take apart to clean, before you reassemble,
rinse with a bleach/water mixture to help retard it in the future.
Humidty+warmth+light= mold.

I tend to agree. I like to use 1/4th cup of h202 per gallon of water in the humidifier. I clean the martha with bleach water. No buildup in the chamber or reservoir. Just the hoses.

Make sure your hoses are positioned so that water doesn't pool up in any part of them...

Black mold. Just another reason to get rid of hoses and put the cool mist directly inside the greenhouse.

FAE is 'Fresh Air Exchange' and is provided by ventilation holes cut into the mini-greenhouse. Cool mist humidifiers are designed to raise humidity, not move air. If you try to use one to move air, it will only last a very short time due to the static pressure produced, which ruins the motor and bushings. For best results, use a humidifier for humidity, and vents for air exchange.

i think no matter what you do. you will still have to fan the GH. too much co2 is produced

Did you let your shrooms sporulate?
I get black shit (cube spores)in my ultrasonic line because its on a timer and they find their way in there.
Cool mist line is fine though as its on 24/7.

You should be able to tell cube spores from black mold.

I have always ran the cool mist inside the greenhouse,I just leave the zippers unzipped and take them out every now and than for a manual fanning

Not necessary.  Will do more harm than good.  A green house should be used as a fruiting chamber and that alone.  And a fruiting chamber does not need to be sterile (which I assume the polyfill functions for).  If anything, the polyfill will just inhibit air flow. 

The reason that polyfill is used in mono/double-tubs is the fact that they are used not only as a fruiting chamber, but to incubate spawn as well.
