Martha - Coolmist Adaptation

basically, i love RogerRabbits technique of keeping his coolmist inside of his martha with a loose door. BUT. you need a timer or it gets to be too much and you get water droplets everywhere.
so how about a difusor? prototype:

its just a milkjug with holes in the top, covering the outlet of a coolmist.
the only reason you dont flood the martha with the usual hose/coolmist setup is because the hose difuses the mist enough as it passes through. In addition, all the water drops that form inside the milk jug should collect on the walls and then slide down back into the coolmist reservoir.
im running it tonight to see how it does. just looking for feedback.

I am still hesitant of electric in my FC
Sounds like it should work fine though

looks kind of ghetto. But who cares if it works, right? However, I know that would not fit in my growrack!

You need to use a timer or humidistat. That will probably cause the same small amount of static pressure a hose does, thereby ruining the motor bushings. RR

update: it ran all night and is at 80% this morning, in an empty FC (full FC are easier to maintain at high humidity) if i enlarge a few holes, it should bump that up a bit. Also, unlike RR's tek, the door to my martha is shut.
it is ghetto, but its just a prototype, if it works, ill build a nicer version.
About static pressure, RR is probably right. but it still takes a few months for this to ruin a coolmist.

I had an Ultrasonic (same size) one time in my greenhouse for a while... worked ok. But it's a space issue for me. I can at least place one more big tray where that thing sits.
That's why I did this...

Each has it's own running 24/7
Now, Why don't these pool water on the bottom?
because of the way the hoses are angled.

If you see the Plexiglas pieces stuck to the plastic of the greenhouse. You will notice that it seems to be pushed in at the bottom... kinda giving it that upward angle. Now the water just runs back into the cool mist and not out into your FC.
I used Duct tape this time to hold the hoses in place. This relieves pressure on the inside chamber as to it's not completely Air Tight. Also if the motor does burn out, i can take the tape off Clean it up, and return the unit.

that is one very nice FC.
is a humidifier better for larger fruiting chambers like yours or could perlite be used instead?

yeah, maybe its not a great idea.
i just wanted to be a hero
ill just go back to the hose method. im just fighting it the whole way... i just spent a few months with a monotub system that apparently blows ass. now im switching back to marthas and it all reeks of defeat.

using oatmans style: humidty at 68% after running all night.
im hoping that when i put these 6 trays in there, it will bump up the humidity. that has been my experience at least, its hard to keep an empty martha at 90% humidty.
hoping. i really can afford to go wrong here, ive been setback way too much.

Assuming I have a fan giving the right rate of air exchange throughout my greenhouse, could I just set a coolmist on the bottom shelf and time as needed? I'm assuming these people are using hoses into their greenhouses because the coolmist is providing both humidity and air exchange.

Omni? what's the bottom of your martha like? Is it open or enclosed?
i can't see how it wouldn't reach atleast 90% rh overnight.... even in an empty fc. wierd.
PS.) mono tubs, and doubletubs do blow ass! never got one to work for me either. Good Luck to you and all your achievements...

the bottom of my martha is sealed with a 6in X 1in slit in the bottom for drainage.
i think i need to mist the chamber up to proper humdity once, and then the coolmist should be able to maintain that level.

I have the 60" Martha and I get 85%-90% Rh with just one cool mist (seems i have the same one everyone else does) and an ultra sonic in the Martha that is set on low and set to run for 30min every 5hrs. My Martha is empty right now while I wait for my pan cyan LC and I need to pasteurize some poo and I have no problems getting it to the proper humidity.

speaking of trays, what kind are in your martha Oatman? (the black ones) they look like garden trays for transplants. but theyre pretty shallow too, are you still using these. i keep making 4in casings out of routine, but with the contam issues im having, im considering using more shallow trays than fewer deep ones.
i tossed an ultra sonic into the martha today and i have it pumping right now, nice and foggy. ill try running it 30min/4hours as per Pornorob's suggestion

I like that about those trays also, them being long and skinny. They also have a channel in the center that runs the length of the tray. The channel allows air flow under the tray so I never have to worry about the casing over heating. They give me a substrate depth of 4"-5" and conveniently fit 10 lbs of poo and 3 qts of spawn in the black trays and 15 lbs plus 4 qts on the white one. That works out well when ordering from tennstud no waste and no shortages.

trays i am using are just black garden trays from Ace Hardware.
They are usually used to greminate seedlings, (and usually come with the little places for like 40 seedlings)
but i found just the tray parts, and they are only like $1.50 a piece.
Keeps me from cleaning and reusing them... burn real nice in a fire. (no evidence)

if you reused them, they would be full of substrate, the tray is not the issue. i dont think i can explain why you dont make sense... or why i dont either... oh yeah

by the way, back to the topic of the thread. i think my hygrometer just sucks. i ran 2 vicks coolmists into the martha, and fogged it with a ultrasonic on the inside, until it was just before soaking everything. it said 90%... but it definatly wasnt hitting the mark with one coolmist running, judging from how fast the casing layers were drying up.
