Introducing Shroomery Classified Ads * 1

Not everyone can afford our banner rates, which start at $180 per month. We like to think we offer a great value for vendors who do a relatively high volume of business. However, the cost can be prohibitive for individuals who simply want to unload a few items, or promote awareness of their personal website. In order to address this, we are now offering a classified ad program which is much less expensive.

One banner 'slot' on the Shroomery is reserved for classified ads, and two ads are displayed at a time. They are plain-text, and contain a title, description, and URL. They look like this:



Prices start at $15 per week. If you have any questions or comments about the system, please let me know!

I can tell from the straight-edge clothing being advertised that $15 a week leads to people who have no idea what demographic they're advertising to.

the answer to your question is.....yes they are legal. i dont understand the second question so i'll just inform you that the only ppl i know to have tried north american amanita muscaria(found in sonoma, ca) have had negative experiences going blind and shit(temperarily). they apparently have more toxins than the european variety and less of the psychoactiveness.

if i buy a classified ad, does that give me the right to advertise certain (legal of course) products in the vendor forum as long as it deosnt compete with any of the sponsors, its mostly cannabis related stash like lighters, rolling papers, ashtrays, bongs etc.

just curious, great concept either way, i will buy some ads, are affiliate ads allowed btw?

and what about signatures and ads

Hey,

As far as posting in the vendors forum or putting an ad in your signature, it sounds alright to me for as long as your classified is running. Once it expires you'd have to go back to the regular advertising guidelines. You might want to make a note in any vendor forum threads that they're related to a classified, so the mods don't mistakenly delete them. And yes, affiliate links are allowed.

You might wanna tell me and the other Vendor/Sponsor forum Mods the next time that you change the policy in the forum.

As we have no clue unless you fill us in on the changes.

Cluttering up the Vendor/Sponsor forum with Classified Ads is a terrible idea...IMHO

And how are we gonna know who payed for a Classified Ad and who hasn't?

You can see a list of the currently active classifieds at http://www.shroomery.org/classifiedlist.php.

We'll see how it goes, but I don't think we'll sell so many classifieds that there's much additional "clutter".

For now the only restriction on classifieds is the product they're advertising must be legal. They're small, limited to short plain text descriptions and they share space with all the other classifieds, so I don't think there's much risk that they'll cannibalize sales from our established vendors. But the idea was to see how people use the ads and establish guidelines as they become necessary.

how about a small icon or whatever like the journal and my gallery icons under the ratings that shows who has payed for ads and who hasnt so mods doesnt have to check the list everytime. good idea with a subforum.

An indicator icon would be a good idea, so that we can tell at a glance who is paid up and therefore who can be displaying a plain-text AD in their signiture.

Upon some more consideration, I have decided to segregate our full-banner and classified promotional threads by creating a seperate "Classified & Short-Term Sponsors" sub-forum of the Shroomery Sponsors' Forum. I feel this is a necessary distinction, as our classified sponsors are not required to pass through the same mandatory review process that full-banner sponsors are; and so I wish to distinguish between the two such that uninformed nooblets may realize the small amount of added risk in purchasing from classified advertisers.
