Any other Herp keepers around here.. I'd love to know what reptiles other people around here keep... I personnaly have 2 Male Ball Pythons, 1 Female Jungle Carpet Python (with the typical female attitude LOL), 1 Male Red Blood Python, 1 Male Columbian Red-tailed Boa, and 1 Female Albino Burmese Python.

not so much, anymore.

used to have lots of different corn snakes, king snakes, a boa (only 2 feet), and a handfull of native garters.....

but got more into exotic amphibians...mainly frogs. had some ceratophrys(ornate horned), whites tree frogs, cuban tree frog, and a couple dart frogs.

alas, nothing now.

thinking of building a really nice vivarium ala blackjungle.com

..............

i would advise the whole breeding large snakes to sell online.. unless you are going to be dealing in high-end morphs there is a very limited market for large snakes.. and even then you should do some research so you know how difficult it really is to house a large snake.. i mean my burmese is reaching 18 feet long and is damn near 200 lbs and usually eat a 20-40 lbs meal once every three weeks or so.. and is every bit capable of killing and consuming someone my size (6'2" 210).. so just be carefull

i actually found mine at a pet store in nyc, he was the one leucistic in the tank and they sold him to me for the same price, which was $30

leucistic geckos normally go for around 75 , juveniles go for cheaper i think

yeah they can go up around 75.00 but if you got him at 30.00 you got him for a steal.. leopard geckos have alot of personality i just dont have the time to stop every other day and pick up crickets. and i dont want to deal with the noise that comes with breeding them.. so ill stick with my snakes

When your gecko can take a 40 lb pig like my girl here, Let me know Just kidding.. (this pic is from about two weeks agoabout 8 hours after she ate. For some reason she likes curling up in the tightest area of her room when she eats. Trust me she has plenty room room to move around in her 16X8 room)

Damn, trauma, That thing could eat you!!

That's the biggest captive snake I have ever seen, really.

Do you require any permits to keep it?

actually the state i live in does not allow any snake over 10 feet long to be possesed without a permit.. the only problem is the Department of Enviromental Conservation will not issue a permit to someone who doenst have proof of ownership prior to january 2005.. So I just call her my little illegal immigrant .. They dont really pursue the issue in this state but if you do get caught due to an accident involving the animal there is a large fine somewhere in the 20,000 range..

What if that thing ever got out of it's room?

You should probably pursue getting that permit because it's not worth the fine. I guess you could keep her in secret just as easily.

DO you feed her live animals?

the only way she could get out of the room is if she knows how to unlock a deadbolt.. and i cant get the permit cause i cant provide proof of ownership prior to jan 2005... As for feeding her.. I feed her freshly killed animals. Mainly for her safety so the food item doesn't get a lucky kick or bite in that might hurt her, and secondly i think it is more humane to kill the food item quickly rather than let it be slowly constricted to death..
