Some reptiles I've kept over the years
    #10289647 -

Anyone here keep reptiles?

Here are some that I've kept over the past couple of years.

That is my snapping turtle Aggro.  I found him as an egg, and he ended up outgrowing my 120 gallon tank.  He now resides in my friends private and stocked  very large backyard lake/pond.  I see him now and again and he is HUGE!

This "was" my baby Pastel ball python eating.  Ball pythons are supposed to be the most docile snake.  Well, not this sucker.  I could never even hold him without getting repeatedly struck.  I have a video i may upload to prove it.  More on what happened to him after the next pic.

This is my Male western Hognose snake.  I loved this snake.  I had a female "red coloration" hognose as well.  They were both proven "het" for albino, so when I would breed them, 33% of the eggs would have hatched Albino hognoses.

Disaster struck these snakes when I went away for the weekend and my power went out.  When it came back on, it reset my heat rope temp to around 160 degrees killing all of my snakes by roasting them to a hardened shell.  Probably almost setting my house on fire as well.

In all 3 hognose, 3 ball pythons fried that day.  It was a sad day for me :frown:

I want to get another snapping turtle, but I know the same thing will happen.  IT will soon outgrow the tank.

Any of you keep reptiles??

I really like that pastel jungle ball python. I think I'm going to save up for a bumblebee ball python morph. I too have kept a few snapping turtles over the years. I raised them from the time they were hatchlings up until adulthood. I also had a hognose snake but it was an Eastern hognose. I had to scent dead frozen/thawed mice with american toad scent just to get him to eat. That's why I like the western hognose snakes. They will eat mice readily. Nice reptiles though. Herpetology is probably my favorite subdivision of biology.

I used to own a ball python, but due to conflicting issues with my ex gf she had his now (I think she sold him).  If you're an enthusiast they're a lot of fun to own but they're not worth the cost if you're not really into em.
