cakes still no pins??
    #633733 - 05/16/02 08:58 PM (21 years, 6 months ago)

ok everyone im rather confused..

my friend has had his cakes now for a week birthed... they have formed bumps that kinda look like the perlite all over the cakes..but he still hasent seen any pinning..he dont know if he is doing anything wrong. the humidity is high and its warm in there.. has a light sourse.. and he mists and fans twice a day...its weird i think... if anyone thinks he should dunk or something let me know .. and if so whats the best method of dunking.. thanks

patience the bumps are mushrooms forming.

you don't want to dunk now....it's sorta too late.

you can dunk after the 1st flush.

Just be patient. The pins will come soon enough. One day you won't have any and the next you will have more than what you know what to do with.

Click teks and then dunk tek, great way to rehydrate the cakes either before birthing or after flushes

It usually takes about 6 weeks +/- from innoculation to the growth of mushies so you still have about a week left before worriment should set in

Dunking usually will initate pin sets 2 days after getting dunked. Try dunking a cake.

Dunking :

I never dunk on the 1st flush.

After the first fllush.....take the cake and put it back in the 1/2 pint jar.....fill with water.....and put lid back on....leave cake in for 12 hours.

You can put it in the frig....and the cake will get cold shocked too.
be sure and take it out after 12 hours!

You will see pins again in a few days.
