Pinning Shiitake
    #633256 - 05/16/02 03:39 PM (14 years, 10 months ago)

A friend of mine is trying to fruit Shiitake blocks made of sawdust. The blocks pin then abort. Does anyone have any experience with this?
I have never mentioned this board to him. I lay low, and I don't think he's "cool", but he is worth helping.

aborts occur because their is insufficient nutrients or not enough air exchange

temps, air exchange, nutrients, humidity, substrate moisture level.

All though if they are pinning i dont think it would be a humidity / water level problem unless it gets dropped after the pins form.

with shiitake - assuming your using a block - humidity less so as long as part of the block is covered and the temps are right...
