Q's About Using Hydrogen Peroxide

I have been spraying my casings with a water and 5% Hydrogen Peroxide solution. Can the use of HP be harmful to a casing myc. layer?

Nah, I got all pissed off one time and just stuck the top of a spray bottle into the h2o2 bottle (3%) and sprayed away. (he he he I knew better since I was one of the mod's of this forum at the time. I was checking my Martha 50 casings at the time like these the phone rang and I went to answer it and walked away with my Martha zipper open. Then I saw the bong and the next thing my Martha is open for 18 hrs. Casings were doomed so I tried some stuff.

The h2o2 thing out of the bottle didn't seem to hurt the myc any but it didn't help at that point.

One thing I did like to do was between batches of casings I'd fog the Martha with h2o2 by putting it in the ultrasonic out of the bottle. Not sure if it did much but it couldn't hurt.

and last most hydro stores sell hydro solutions that are 17% and 35% but remember those will burn skin almost instantly and change the color of it where it touches for s short period of time.

hydrogen peroxide can damage mycelium when used directly. spray an undiluted solution on a small area of your casing and you will see what i mean. the mycelium will shrink instantly.

however, when added to water, the hydrogen peroxide breaks down fairly quickly. you can add a mix of water and hydrogen peroxide to a spray bottle, and a few days later there will be little to no trace of hydrogen peroxide. therefore, it is acceptable as a water purifier.

i say just use distilled water (<$1/gallon) and rest easy. the only place i use hydrogen peroxide is in my cool mist (mixed with tap water) and when combating cobweb mold.

I've been using an ounce or two (of the 3% kind) per gallon of water. Keeps the humidifyers nice and clean.
