I discovered a paralyzed man drowning in the ocean when I was surfing one time, and paddled him in. He was seconds from death, and the only reason I even found him was seeing his surfboard floating with no one around it (he was underneath it). When I pulled his head out of the water he GASPED and started moaning and cussing and rolling his eyes around. I kept his back as stable as I could and worked our way towards the beach. Lifeguards eventually saw us and took over from there.

Turns out he had fallen on a wave and broke his neck on the bottom. He was drowning, fully conscious and unable to do a damned thing about it. He said he kind of resigned himself to his fate during that minute or so, an "aw fuck, so thats it, huh?" sort of thing. He is doing well now, it took him months but he eventually regained his ability to walk--no more surfing, though.

Watching my children being born. Although I realize most people wouldn't say "wow, that's fantastic", it is hands-down the most interesting thing I have ever seen or will ever see. Mindblowing beyond any trip.

I've got tons of stories but nothing I would say is the most interesting.

One shift I was sitting in a Taxi rank in the city, it was probably around 3am when I picked up a guy in his early thirties. He was pretty upset because he had been robbed of some heroin earlier in the night, sure he would kill them the next day. Though he was pretty high or drunk at the time anyway and nodded off every now and then.

He had so much depth in his life. We talked about his kids that he'd never seen, his time in prison. He showed me a couple tattoo's he had on his wrist, nothing but two dots for the two people he had killed in his life, he described what led him to do it and how he did it.

He was an emotional mess. He wanted to die so badly and talked about how beautiful heaven must be, then he would nod off a little and snap to saying he doesn't want to die.

The fare was around $30 and he said to pull over. He gave me what he had, which was around $25 and he stumbles out of the Taxi. It's pouring with rain and not a lot around, so I get out of the car and go over to him to pursuade him to get in. I took him the rest of the way, which was only a few k's away.

He was very grateful but still a mess. He shook my hand a few times and wandered off to I don't know where, and i'm not sure he knew either.

I was dead, and then revived in the ER (suicidal overdose). That's the big one, lol.

Besides that, I've done some real mindbenders on AMT and ayahuasca (they were positive trips).
