Phenomena, Anyone else experienced this?

After all these posts on meditation, astral traveling, etc. I must ask this. Now to give some background to this questions....
For about 3 years now every few nights (Id say 1 out of 4), When Going to sleep I fall into this odd state. I cannot see anything, But i hear a collage of voices, footsteps, music, doors opening/closing, and a few odd cacophanies.
In this state, It is as if my body has fallen asleep, but my mind is still conscious. I can create sensations on command: For example I may imagine in my mind I am shooting downward. I will feel the sensation of moving downwards at a few thousand miles per hour. I will feel the wind blowing against me. Its all so real.
As I said this does not include seeing anything, it consists of Hearing and Feeling.
I cannot move when in this state, Moving is painful... but painful is not the right word. Whenever I try to move i feel... unable to.
I hear music which I've never heard before. I hear voices speaking to me, I hear old quotes from TV shows which have never aired on TV yet its all so familiar.
So to wrap it up, its as if I am conscious in an unconscious world. Everything is spontaneous, yet can be controlled if I try to. Went to a doctor about this, he told me its known as Sleep Paralysis... but after reading up on it I have to disagree with him.
Anyone experience anything similar?
I hope Im not insane

Thats so Irrelevant. This is in no way a Lucid Dream.
But good suggestion though, I loved that film, very insightful.

as I wrote in another thread while A.P some of the sensations include intensifying in heart beat, feeling of body being heavy, but at the same time light, a noise like a motor inside your head, feeling of not being able to move. the feeling of immobilizatio is because the two bodies are seperating.
other explanations can be negative entities. I'll give you some ways that they thought in dealing with these, I usually do them before I go to sleep. they are called conjurations.
sing this:
bellilin bellilin bellilin amphora of salvation, I would like to be next to you matarialism has no strength next to me, bellilin bellilin belilin
pronounce thi 3 times. bellilin is supposebly a divine wind that blows away negativity.
after this, I do the "circle of protection" which keeps negative entities entering. the circle of light is held by elementals of nature.
say:
My father please, order my elemental intercessor to wrap a magical circle of protection around me ( or bed or house) so that no evil entity can harm me.
say this 3 times also, and while saying, imagine a circle of light being formed around.
hope this helps.

What you are experiencing sounds nothing like sleep paralysis. I've had sleep paralysis all my life and the only resemblence in the episodes you describe are the feeling of being immobilized.
It does sound a lot more like lucid dreaming, but still not quite right. Almost like a combination of the two?

i get this also...
it is very hard to describe, yet you did a pretty good job of it...
its like you have this mealstrom of voices and noises and songs and sayings... all swirling around your head, and you dont see any of it, but you hear all this noise and static.
by the way i have no idea what it is. but, i too experience things like this, maybe once or twice a week, before i go to sleep.
it doesnt seem to impede anything, or make sleep any less "effective", but it is pretty odd.
my unproffesional opinoin is that we are just tapping into all sorts of "white noise" like radio recievers, but of a different type, perhaps random mental thoughts and images from people around us? or even just "people" in general.
yup.

It sounds like you experience paralysis while in the hypnagogic state, which would explain all the odd phenomena, as things like closed eye visual disturbances and auditory hallucinations are common in this state.
