need tips on water heater setup

I need some tips on how to get my temperatures a little higher... my setup right now is a rubbermaid container with a whisper 100watt aquarium heater in a antifreeze container(with water of course) cut about 3/4's of the way from the top... anyway the heater is set to the highest setting (93 degrees) but the temp inside the rubbermaid only is around 77-81 degrees according to my digital thermometer.. the temp stays the same with the lid on or off... how do you guys get your setups to get hotter than mine like around 85 or higher and what are some tips... is my temp good for fastest colonization time?... i have 4 myco bags in there with PR strain... just innoculated 5/9/02 and want them to colinize as quickly as possible... thanks for any help

well, 80 or 81 degrees is best I think for the temp, the mycellium make a litle heat on there own, and I have found if I set my inc. up to around 86 it seems (to me) to trake longer for the first growth to start , and sometimes, I get his yellow crap in the bottom of the jars

IMOA- the best incs are made from getting two of the same type of containers, then adding water to the first one, setting in the fish heater-- either under the water, if its submersible, or on the side with the heating elements, in the water, the heater has a water line meaning that it should never be dry underneath the level, but as long as the elements are in the water you will not burn it out, anyway, stack the second container inside the first, use duct tape or weight of contents inside the container to keep the water level as you need it. I find that if the water temp is 94 then the internal temp is about 80F put a towel in the bottom of the thing to keep the --whatever you are growing- from direct contact with the bottom.
