Help save my salvia cutting! (updated with new plants and pix)
    #6260489 -

Hey guys!
I got my 2 salvia cuttings in the mail after 1 week of waiting. To my surprise, they were in perfect condition in there plastic bag... Now that ive transported them into black soil.... One of them (the big cutting) is starting to die! Only after one day!!?!

I put a baby night light next to them this morning, just in case they need light...
What else can i do guys?
thanks a lot

Is that a night light?

I don't know anything about salvia inparticular, but I know plenty about growing plants in general, and I've never heard of one that grows under a night light.

If I were you, I'd put it in the sun.

A cloudy day would be better than putting them in direct sunlight and much better than a night light.

:what:

1. Trim the leaves, cut large ones in half.

2. Build humidity tents by making a structure from a coat hanger and placing one gallon zip-locks over them.

3. Only water when dry.  I don't see any perlite and/or sand for drainage.

4. Put them in a frickin' window, my lord.

They shouldn't need staking until they're much larger.  Using a pipe cleaner or nylon material is better then wire.

You need to get them in a tent asap. If you keep keep them in a humid place they will root in no time.

Cut all the leaves except the ones to the top. Don't cut from the stem, but slice them in half, most will fall off in a few days on their own but this will give energy to the growing tip while its making the delicate transition. Whomever rooted these originally should have done this immediately after cutting from the mother plant.

Get that cutting on the left in a real pot and get rid of that dish on the right cutting. Get plastic pots with holes that allow drainage. You need a better potting mix that consist of coarse sand, rich soil, and vermiculite. You can even use packing "peanuts" in your soil mix if you break them up to help air out the roots. If you lack a humidity tent, you can use your FC in the meantime.

I think they are defying gravity!!

They look OK to me. I see that you still haven't cut those big leaves as advised though......

New shoots will grow from the tip or possibly underneath the soil, when you give them the correct potting mix. Christ 'o Friday, why won't you take anyone's advice?
