Please help me with my new speakers.
    #6259264 -

I got these http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/6255898#Post6255898

The sound card hookup has a yellow, black, and a green cord. The back of my sound card has a green one for headphones, one for a Mic, and one blue one for something else. Under that are red and white inputs, with a cable connector next to it. How the hell do my speakers plug into this? I need to find out how many channels my sound card has, how do I do this? I'm computer literate so you don't need an elementary explanation but audio isn't one of my strong computer skills.

I'm looking online for my computers model number PCV-RS630G, but I don't see anything about how many channels my card has. I only see one green jack and that has headphones on it.

What kind of sound card do you have first of all?

Get the make and model and you'll be able to find out right away.

Same thing happened to me when I played Neil Armstrong in Moonshot. They found me in an alley in Burbank trying to re-enter the earth's atmosphere in an old refrigerator box.

Do I find that info in the device manager? The sound part has like 6 things listed in the device manager.

If you go to control panel, sound and audio devices, and then to the audio tab it should say.

I think you just plug in the green to the back. Then the other cords should all hook up with eachother within the speaker system.

The red and white are for Right Left and +/- for each.

I have a similar setup as yours, the sub, tweeters and speakers all hook up together and then the one cord goes to the back of the soundcard (green).

At  least thats how mines hooked up

Sounds like On-Board to me. My first advice would be to ditch the on-board and get a half decent soundcard for your speakers, onboard is horrible, especially for a set of speakers like yours. Any Audigy series or X-Fi would be a huge improvement in every way.

Plugged the green one into the green spot and the only sound comes out of the front right spreaker.

This one right here looks like it's perfect. http://us.creative.com/products/product.asp?category=1&subcategory=205&product=14257 It has the colored cords I need, and I'm guessing I just slide the sucker in and install the drivers? This speaker set also came with an adapter for game systems and the output is red and white, so I figure all I need are a red and white connector cable from the crossover adapter to my pc...correct?

Creative Labs are key for a home Audio setup. I have the Audigy SE myself, other than some driver problems in the beginning(ened up being some IRQ conflict, no biggy) I haven't had any problems with it and it is much better than on-board. You might want to look into this one too.

Looks expensive, but the sound looks like it will be amazing.  Clarity is what is most important.  I love a clean, crisp, blast...not a crackly mess of noise like some shit out there.  5 Shrooms to you for your advice. Much appreciated

Or you could really get the most out of your speakers and get this card

With a set of speakers like yours I'd spend the extra $20 for the Audigy 4 SE over the Audigy SE.

I'm not that concerned with sound quality, but this one you recommended sounds like it will be great.

Okay curently I have the black, green, and pink wires hooked into the adapter, which has the stereo/audio jacks coming from the other end of that to the backof the computer. Where in the control panel can I set the rear audio jacks to be the main sound source? If I do that I think I have this.

Think it depends on your drivers. Not too sure, I don't have much experience with 5.1

You have an nvidia nforce motherboard chipset right?

If so, There should be tons of info on the web, as well as tons of info for whoever makes your actual motherboard.

If its an nforce, it can do 5.1 and does have the proper hookups, you just need to know what goes to where.

If its analog then you need a cable per channel (or per two channels depending on the type of headphone jack + wiring)

If its digital, there will be only one cable and the sub inputs actually do the decoding.
