Owners of flatscreen TVs: do the speakers on your TV suck ass?

My dad wanted to buy a large flat screen TV so I did all the research for him. I decided on a 46 inch flat screen LED Samsung TV. I have a 24 inch LCD Samsung flat screen monitor/TV that has absolute shit quality speakers, so I warned him that the speakers would sound like shit.

Sure enough we hook it up and the sound coming out of the speakers on the TV was on par with the sound you'd expect to hear from a transistor radio.

We're going to be hooking up a real 5.1 sound system to it tomorrow, but I was wondering if any flat screens actually have speakers that are decent quality? It seems the speakers on CRT TVs used to be half decent if you weren't an audiophile. But with this new flat screen TV, even my Mom (who could give a fuck less about audio quality) said it sounded like shit.

Do any flat screen TVs have decent speakers or is it just all around fuckery?

It's fuckery. They expect everyone to buy 5.1 or 7.1 surround systems to go with the TVs.

They all suck, I dont even know why they include them. There are usually nothing more than a useless eyesore. Im glad my latest tv has very discrete speakers, which have never been on.

I think they make them that way because they figure if you're buying a flat screen you're gonna buy surround sound anyway so why invest the money.

mine's totally unacceptable.... they just intend for you to buy some sort of home theater system these days.. it's not even an option :/

Not very big at all I have a friend that had tiny ones that were practically flat and sounded good as fuck. But even if they were good ones built in it wouldn't be as good as surround sound.

And he probably has a bigger subwoofer doing alot of the work.

Its really stupid that they include speakers in TVs at all.

5.1 or 7.1 receivers are the HEART of any decent HD system.

All TV speakers blow chunks. If you don't have a good sound system, you're only getting half of the experience anyway.

The speakers on my flatscreen are good enough for watching TV and movies, but I don't like them for music.

I need BASS in my music.
