blowing out your speakers
    #10012991 - 03/21/09 10:40 AM (15 years, 1 day ago)

okay...so i like music. i especially like listening to music on really high volume. because i value music so much, i invest a good deal of money on quality speakers to enhance the quality of said music.

the thing is...i always get nervous about blowing out my speakers. is this really a risk when playing at max volume? i try to avoid going over 75% just to be safe.

shit, ive got bose speakers for my comp. i never need to turn them up past 30-40%. even if i do, im not scared of blowing them out, although i probably should be. the cool thing with bose is its still crystal clear even if you turn it all the way up.

yeah by myself it's not really an issue but at parties and stuff people tend to be loud. i always have at least one idiot that has to mess with my sound system and crank the base up to 100% to shake the house.

If you have a good quality set-up (reciever, speakers, wires, etc.) And the correct amount of watts going to each channel, then you should be fine. But then again you shouldn't have to be turning it up to max if that's the case. Maybe over time the speakers will get worn out and eventually take a shit, but typically the manufacture will have a "Blow out" warranty that will cover any blown speaker....At least i know the speakers i have got for home audio/theater systems in the past have had blow out warranty on them. They are still hitting like they did on day one.

I don't know all that much about speakers but thought i would thrown in  :2cents:
