"After speaking with a lot of people who attended the Cannabis Cup last year it's been proven a scam for tourists of sorts. So a lot of people warn.
They get you in there, then after you pay the $200 fee to get in they ALSO charge you $20 a gram for pot to "judge". This is roughly 2x American street prices which is insane.
They also over charge on food and drink.
I wanted to go to meet other marijuana based company owners and what not and schmooze about. After speaking with other I came to find that this would be tricky if impossible to do.
So after giving it some thought I figured I'd rather go to Amsterdam with buddies and visit the museums and what not, than this, at another time.
So I go to the hightimes websites to see if I could refund my "ticket" (This "ticket" was a 5 digit email they sent me that I give at the door.).
The website then says, "No refunds.". "
lol
a scam?
i would agree that if you want to find the best cannabis in the world you arnt going to find it in amsterdam. if you mean that its a scam that the coffee shops and growers that supply the coffee shops are just in it for the money then i would agree. spending 4-6 months growing a huge yeilding nice looking crop, only to cut it down and have it dried and sold in 48 hours? thats not taking care to make the product as good as it can be. supposedly arjan has a bunch of ultra haze #1 stocked up and curing for 2006's cup, but i cant imagine how he can cure enough buds to supply everyone and not get into some legal trouble with holding so much weight. but what do i know?
i hope you will be there, i sure will be.
where else can you buy bud, fresh mushrooms, mescaline, amstel gold, domestic heineken and sex legally and enjoy it all in public without the fear of an authority ruining your day?
"yea id rather just sit at home and smoke weed anyway"
i can smoke weed anywhere in the world? smoking weed isnt just about getting high for me. there is quality, (counter)culture, and community bursting at the seams when im smoking and getting high with diverse people from all over the world., im glad there is a festivity that brings people that enjoy the things i enjoy together.
i also dont know where u live, but although you wont find the best buds in the world in amsterdam, you will probably find the buds better then what you can find at home.
its ok that you dont want to goto the cannabis cup for whatever reason, but dont spread disinformation when you havent been to amsterdam or the cannabis cup. enjoy your thanksgiving in the states!!! ill be thinking about you in amstredam.
by the way, you can smoke weed in amsterdam anytime, you dont need any kind of judges pass, the weed isnt $20 a gram, its about 7 euros for a nice quality G which is less then $10 US. also, id like to see you get hash in the states like there is hash in amsterdam. you also dont have to judge at all, although all the popular shops wont let u in if you dont have a pass, there are over 290 shops in amsterdam, not all of them enter into the cannabis cup. and im sure the locals know where to go when the loud americans come through.
im sure you, being a cannabis product business owner, will be missed at this years expo, which to my knowledge, is the biggest collection of cannabis related companies. and you can definitly meet anyone that has a booth at the expo, considering they will be manning it for a week. not to mention there are meet and greets, grow seminars, and concerts where all the judges, patrons, and business owners are jamming out together.
sorely missed.

He experiences himself, his thoughts and feelings, as something separated from the rest--a kind of optical delusion of his consciousness. This delusion is a kind of prison for us, restricting us to our personal desires and to affection for a few persons nearest us. Our task must be to free ourselves from this prison by widening our circles of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature in its beauty."
