The moment we stopped having sex...

Not just to reproduce, but for pleasure.  I don't understand how a process like this would "evolve" so I wonder if it happened somewhat instantaneously(within a really short span of time).

Imagine mr.caveman and ms. cavewoman...

The male has fought over her in the cave against the other males, he has shown his dominance when choosing her to mate.  At the time, there would be some sort of mating games, kinda like we see in gorillas or something, but in the end, the woman is forcefully grabbed and penetrated.  And then at that moment of penetration a lightbulb goes off in both their heads at the same time...

I'm all hot and bothereed.. But yeah sex is part of almost every religion and is a pleasure of being married. it is a fact that passion (usually sexual) keeps marriages together. Its a strange beautiful part of a relationship if you can make love to somebody you are in love with. there is nothing like it.

Still, I'd love it if it happened that way and I could be the man that out of nowhere, was struck with understanding of sex=pleasure.

Dogs are just dumbasses.  They don't hump your leg for pleasure.  They are programmed to spread their seed as much as possible...and if it happens to be your leg, so be it!  :grin:

There truly was a point where we did realize that engaging in sex was incredibily satisfying.  I can see everyone in the tribe fucking like rabbits and then going crazy when all the kids starting popping up.  Probably the first time in history a species didn't want any kids.  :wink:

You have it backwards. People had sex for pleasure first. They had no idea that it created new beings. To this day there are those who do not realize that sex leads to reproduction. Some primitive tribes, learning disabled people, etc.

I know of people who masturbate their dogs as a reward as a training tool. The dog has no thought of reproducing just pleasure. In fact, I doubt that when animals have sex that they have any idea that they are bring a new being into existence. So sex for pleasure came first. The questing is: When did mankind first realized that sex leads to reproduction?

having sex being a plesurable things makes sense for humans. since females display no outward signs of fertility (you know the right time of the month) its really just guessing game for the guys to figure out when to bang the ole lady. however the people who enjoy sex and have it all the time increase the chances that they will get somebody pregnant and after awhile a baby pops out. when the population of people on this earth was a lot smaller it was easier for groups of individuals with the same "fuck all the time gene cuz it feels good" to become the more widely distributed group of people because they had a far greater chance of making babies then those who did not have sex all the time. its purely natural selection.

samething with menopause. why have girls loose the ability to make babies? because as you get older the chances of dying in child birth and child defects increase. those trying to have babies older and succed but the babies are fucked up and dont reproduce are naturally weened out of the gene pool. also since old ladies dont have to waste energy on pregnancy or providing milk (which is more costly to a female then the actually pregnancy btw) they can then devote those resources into raising thier grandchildren. the grand children then live a better life increasing thier reproductive success and thier genes spread and become more dominant.

also in response to the person above check out the a group of natives who live in the trobriands. they dont believe that sex leads to babies because part of thier diet acts as a natural concraceptive. kind of hard to figure out the whole 9 months part of pregnancy when even more frequently then the rest of the human population you are unable to even get pregnant.

I think that we were never aware that we were having sex for reproduction..  It was a preprogrammed instinct and the basis for it was reproduction.

When did lust and courting and the awareness of fucking=orgasm come into play?
