People who own cats - I need help
    #6236143 -

This morning I noticed that there is blood in my cats' piss. He has been going in the bathtub and it seems like he is having trouble pissing even just a little bit. Anyone know what this is or how to fix it?

blood in the urine is not a good sign. Usually it points to a kidney problem. Sometimes certain cat foods can cause these hard crystals to form in your cats body, im not to sure if it's treatable or not.

Bottom line, get your cat to a vet as soon as you can for a checkup.

What Is Feline Cystitis?

The term "cystitis" literally means irritation of the urinary bladder. Although this term is rather general, there is a common form of cystitis that occurs in male and female cats. This disease is also known as Feline Urologic Syndrome (FUS) or Feline Lower Urinary Tract Disease (FLUTD). It affects the bladder (not the kidneys), resulting in the production of tiny crystals and bloody urine. The cat often urinates much more frequently than normal, usually with the passage of only a few drops of urine. This can be confused with constipation. Many cats will urinate in places other than the litter box due to the irritation of the bladder wall, Hard cool surfaces such as tile floors, counter tops, sinks, and bathtubs are often used. They should not be punished for doing so.

Thanks for the help guys. This is pretty depressing because I just lost my job and barely have enough cash for bills. I hope there is a cheap vet clinic around my part of town.

Your cats probably got some kind of kidney or bladder infection. You will need to get it to a vet (any vet will do). You need to get an Rx for some antibiotics and change its food. Get the urinary tract health cat food.

Our cat recently went through the same thing.

if the cat isnt really old, it is doubtful to be a kidney problem.

you should get your cat to vet as soon as you can, but realize this is a common ailment in most cases. is your cat an outdoor or indoor cat?

its almost a classic case of cystitis. bloody urine, weak to no urine flow accompanied by frequent urges for the cat to go, and not using the litter box but instead cold hard surfaces such as a bathtub.

so, something to get checked out, but nothing to be too worried about.

It's probably a Urinary Tract Infection.  Very common, but easily treated.  I was a Veterinary Technician for many years, and it was very common to get cats with UTI's.  Most common in male cats, but can also happen in females.  You do need to get the cat to the Vet asap.

Yeah, should just be a matter of a few pills and it should clear up.

But, be a humane person and do it sooner rather than later, just ask any human that has had a urinary tract/bladder infection what its like, and they will tell you just how bloody painfull it is.

I had one once before (and its very uncommon in guys), and lord - I'd never wish that type of pain onto my worst enemy.

Yeah, get him to the vet ASAP. Definitely sounds like a UTI.

I had a male cat that got those all the time and my vet said that it's more common in male cats than females.

My poor cat had this. We thought we could treat it at home. Stupid move.

When we got him to the vet, his bladder was so full, they told us it almost exploded. They had to SUCK OUT the piss via SYRINGE. They stuck it into his side. =(

The doc later told us the crystals in his penis was pulled out like a string. (OW!!)

Try and pick up a small low interest loan. Your kitty is worth it.
