my incobater stinks really bad-i have poured h202 in it-
it started when i rebuilt it again-i have a shelf suspended above water with my jars sitting on it-and an aquarium heater-
im am also using filter disks without lids-it does not smell like contams-
i thought at first it was the smell of the seed penetrating through the disks-now im worried-anyone have any similar problems with this smell-its hard to describe-just maybe an old water smell-
any advice?

Maybe the standing water on your incubator has grown some bad smelling bacteria or algae. Is the water greenish? maybe you should change the water. And when you do this use a mix of 8:2 of water/peroxide.

Clean everything in your incubator with a 10% bleach solution including the outsides of any jars you are going to put back in there. Let it sit open overnight to allow any residule chlorine in the bleach to evaporate. Add new water and you should be back.

i was gonna clean it-what do you suggest doing with the 48 jars in it?
the water i clear-is it the seed that is smelling through the filter disks?
i have gotten the green in a few pan jars-but i dont think this is the source-i never smelled this when i used metal lids and bands-now i do using the disks and bands only-do you think its the seed with all the air exchange they are gettiing without lids over them?

I had the same thing with my incubator after my first jars were completed. It smelled bad and I thought it could have been algea or bacteria, but the water looked fine. I had poured half a bottle of h202 with the water in the first place so i wasnt sure if it was bacteria, but I just dumped all the water out, wiped down the inside with some bleech/water and refilled with h202 and water, and so far so good. I use the incubator like anno's and it only took 10 min. to clean, so im sure your jars would be fine for that time......Good luck

took all the jars out-and the smell went away-they are not any contaminated jars in there-the water is clear-i cleaned it really good-and instead of sitting my jars strait on the shelf,i added another smaller rubbemaid on the shelf to put them in-
the smell is obvisouly comning from the jars-anyone have a problem with their birdseed smelling through filter disks?

is it close to the smell of birdseed when you open up your release on your PC? i noticed the same thing with b-seed. it does stink, IMO worse than poo. i am not sure about disks but when i put my nose up to the poly-fil i can smell it :-)

yes exactly that smell-its comning through the disks-i never could smell it before when i used lids-they were blocking it-man that shit stinks-and the manure i have smells worse the that-lol-this shit really stinks-

yep :-) i dont know about the poo, i am now on the pro-poo team, so the smell is dulled by its beauty.
