I know the plant is illegal in the US (thanks Uncle Sam) but are the seeds illegal? Can you legally buy/sell/trade the seeds? Thanks Froggy

Khat is schedule 1,specifically listed by species name not just the active components making ALL parts of the plant also schedule 1 in the US.This includes seeds and is the same reason marijuana seeds are illegal even though they contain 0% THC.

Catha edulis ( Khat, Qat ) Khat is probably one of the world's oldest stimulants, definitively older than Coffee. The plant was first described botanically by the Swede Pehr Forsskal (1732-1763) living in Yemen. Chemical research revealed the active principle of Catha edulis (Cathinone) only during the 80's. The species is probably native to the region around lake Tana (Ethiopia) but can grow in a wide range of climates. Since seeds are relatively rare, the plant is usually propagated thru cuttings. The Khat bush can grow up to 20m high but is generally trimmed to a height of 5-7m since this was shown to increase production of the desirable young growth. Catha edulis leaves are effective only when very fresh. Apparently, their activity seems to be lost after as little as 48h from picking. Traditional use of Catha edulis in the African continent is very similar to the South American use of Coca. Catha edulis was recently found to possess very interesting cholesterol-lowering and anti-diabetic properties. 15 seeds for CHF8.50 15 seeds: USD $5.00 I looked them up for you.....they had them....if you are interested. click here If you already knew all this.....sorry. I stayed up all night and was bored.

So I have two conflicting answers as to the legality of Khat seeds in the US. Basement Shaman sells them in the US from the US this leads me to think the seeds are legal. But a couple posts higher up this thread I see that Khat and its seed are illegal. Can anyone point me to a source with a definitive answer? Froggy
