My cat is dying :(

my cat has been really sick lately. He lost about 5-10 pounds (from 23 pounds) and has stopped eating. We've been feeding him with a syringe lately and he is so shaky today we are taking him to the hospital. It sucks they are probably going to put him down :-(

here he is in his better days

I'm so sorry man. :heart: My cat was my best bud for the sixteen years she was alive. She started getting slower and couldn't jump on her favorite couches or chairs anymore, but we never realized what was happening - kidney failure. One night she was really bad and I made a bed for her in her room and we woke up the next morning ready to take her to the vet and she was laying at the threshold to my mom's room taking her last breaths. I was petting her when she died. It was a very very sad thing...but she was in a great deal of pain the night before, and I almost wish that she had been put down though I'm glad I was touching her when she died. :sad:

I don't know if hearing someone else's cat-death story makes you feel any better, I just want you to know I know what yer going through.

yeah heh he had his share of good food... I am usually an optimist but I don't think hes gonna pull through. He cant even breath hardly he just wheezes starting today and every time he lifts his head it is shaking. He trys his best to get up and just falls over not even getting 5 inches. Yeah this is the last of my pets, my dog died 2 years ago. Seems like just yesterday I was blowin them shotguns off a blunt  :sad:

In the past year two of my cats have passed away, and they go exactly like you have described.
Just know you provided a home, food, and love for them, You've done all you could.
The other day I saw a cat get hit by a car and I still can't get the image of its horror stricken face out of my mind.
All my cats are strays, and I feel happy that they live up to twelve, fifteen years with me. Its better than the fate of living on the streets.

im sorry man, ive lived my whole life around cats and they become sort of children to me. I become very attached to my cats and it hurts just as much to see one go as if i had lost a good friend of mine. My (now) oldest cat murphy, my buddy that i had raised myself since i was in the third grade, is heading downhill. He had a stroke last year and my parents found him lying in front of his food bowl unable to move. Im really not looking foward to the phonecall i know im going to receive sooner or later, what makes it worse is im 1800 miles from him and i can't be with him when he goes.

My advice is to cherish the time you have left and spend as much time with your pet as you can. Hopefully he/she still has some time left and you can do something to fix the problem.

My cat died afew weeks ago, he was a 17 year old manx cat..
I don't think i'll ever have another cat with a personality quite like his.

Sucks man,, he was my buddy..

I've had cats since I was a very young kid. Grew up with them around. We have lost one or two over the years and it usually brings me lots of anger and sadness. I hope yours gets well soon.

Yeah, this post made me sad. As I read it I looked down on the floor next to me and this is what I saw...



My cat is into the double-digit age bracket. I know I will have to face the death of my good buddy sometime in the next 5-10 years. But thats the bitch about being a pet owner.

A buddy of mine has a cat that is now 24!! I couldn't believe it, but it's true. 24 years old...in human years!

thanks for ur condolences... update: they had to put him to sleep that
day.

we took him to a vet right when he was showing signs of sickness, they thought it might have been an infection and we got him antibiotics. The last day I just knew it was too late
