That was awesome, Jets looked good, might win a few games this season. :handth:

Is there an echo in here?

A few is definitely the key word. 6 and 10 isn't out of the question.

Well yeah, they definately got some problems and the Titans look awful so I don't wanna get too excited...but the offensive line looked really good, at least in pass blocking. The wild card factor this year is Pennington's arm, but he made every throw in the book today. They can definately win more than six games.

No, I'm well aware of both of those facts.

What you are forgetting is that they play Miami twice, Green Bay, Cleveland, Minnesota, Detroit, Houston and Oakland.

The Jets play New England this Sunday. The winner will be all alone in first place. Home Opener. Plus you got the whole pupil vs teacher angle w Bellicheck and Mangini. Should be a lot of fun...and its no way inconceivable that the Jets win that game...but only if they can get to Brady.

And I expect them to blitz a fuckload

maimi is much improved.. regardless of how they played in their opener.. good wr's and ronnie brown.. green bay is looking like garbage (i kinda expected them to be better).. minnesota is suprisingly looking good.. detriot looked good in their opener against seattle (9-6 loss)

i dont expect the Jets to finish above 500

they have a pretty shitty defense

pennington only had 1 good game, we'll see how he does next week
and they have no running game

Their defense is unproven but its waay too early to call them shitty.

And it wasn't a "good" game that Pennington had...it was the best in the league.

The running game is a problem...and so is the kicking game

ok so you pretty much agreed with everything i said, except for the fact that you think pennington is capable of taking them to the playoffs

and u added that they had a kicking problem. althou i was fairly confident in Nugent after watching him kick for OSU.

Well...no I didn't agree with you about the defense. Unproven and shitty are pretty far apart on the spectrum man.

Nugent was good in college but since the Jets drafted him, he has turned to shit. You realize he missed an extra point and a twenty-five yard kick in Sunday's game? I'll give him a pass on the thirty-five one he also blew. He cost the team 7 points man...all chip shots.

Do you think that Drew Bledsoe in his current condition is as good as Pennington?

in his current condition, no.. he has no pass protection. HOWEVER, if they both had the same o-line, bledsoe would post better numbers

didnt Dallas cut Pennington, im not sure, we've had soo many QB's in the last 4 years.

No, Pennington was drafted a Jet. There are something like three starting rookies on the Jets o-line. Pennington took some shots on Sunday, but he still got the ball to every receiver, almost every time. It definately brought back memories from the last time he was healthy, three years ago...you remember, the year the Jets shut out Manning's Colts 41-0 in the first round of the playoffs...That's when they made him out to be Joe Montana. And if you saw him play, you'd know why.

His arm strength was the major concern, after two surgeries...but if he doesn't get hurt, this could be some year.

He's got great leadership too, I dunno, man. Like you say its early, but that was really SOME game he threw on Sunday. Spot passes all day, all over the field, and accurate as shit.

2 shoulder surgeries right?.. but yeah.. we will see what happens this week and next before i consider the Jets and over 500 team and say that Pennington is a good QB

and i think im thinking of Chad Hutchinson.

Re: So [Re: Banez]

Yeah I remember him..He never started.

Pennington replaced Testaverde in 2002 or 2003. Herm the Germ's first year as a head coach. He replaced Vinnie because the Jets offense looked a lot like Kansas City's last weekend. After 4 weeks or so, the media was calling for Herm's head, so he switched quarterbacks.

And it worked. Ironically, this was also the season when Moe Lewis caused Drew Bledsoe's lungs to bleed in Week 3, and of course he was replaced by Brady. (The Jets still managed to win that game...It was week 3. Bledsoe looked like what he is, a geezer)

So, yeah Brady goes all the way to the Super Bowl. Despite Herm and Paul Hackett, Pennington manages to get the Jets in as the last wildcard.

First game against the Colts, he couldn't stop scoring. And with the way Manning gets a little chokey come playoff time, he just couldn't keep up.

Pennington got his ass kicked against the Raiders in the second round. Herm's coaching, ESPECIALLY time-out management...like wasting replays on shit that looked kinda obvious...Herm was a horrible coach.

But now, he's gone. And we got Bellicheck's clone as head coach. Every member of that scunjy management is finally gone or seriously demoted. Mangini seems to be giving Pennington a lot of control in game calling (and Pennington is SMART). So, yeah...we'll see

Love divisional games
