All over the news here in Milwaukee tonight.

Awesome.
Maybe Clemens can learn a thing or two and we can win a few games?
Who knows!
Favre vs. Patriots twice this year will be fuuuun.

Hope you're doing well this evening.
I'm smoking some pot and burning your superhit and reading Blood Meridian and listening to the radio.
Beautiful night.

I'm real good, just antsy and anxious. I've been avoiding pot for 2 hrs but can't seem to bring myself to go to bed so I may smoke some...saving the rest of it for this weekend. (Two nights of Radiohead. Which is why I can't fall asleep!)
I found Blood Meridian almost painful to plow through. I was so sick of his goddamn flare for language by the end of it. Hope you're enjoying it though. As a Bears fan does this make you very happy?

As a Bears fan, I'm glad he's not there. I would much rather face Aaron Rodgers, who is not a terrible QB but is certainly no Brett Favre, than I would him. I don't think Brett will be very happy in New York. I don't fault him for coming back though; if he wants to play I don't see how anyone else can say he shouldn't. It's his decision. But yes, I'm glad I won't have to see him twice this year in green and gold.
As far as that book goes, I am not excessively thrilled with it either. I really didn't like The Road, and this frustrates me in the same ways. Yes, he certainly can write. But is there a way to over-write a scene? He is killing off all the life from his story by the way he's telling it.
I don't know. I'm no critic, but I just don't enjoy his writing very much. The best part of this book so far is a story about running out of powder in the desert w/ the Indians chasing them. That was nice. And the tendency of recent authors to eschew the use of quotation marks is ridiculous.

those who know me understand my deep love for the new york jets. those who know me also understand my deep disliking of one of the most over rated quarterbacks in NFL history.
during the past 30 days of non stop Brett Favre gushing on various sporting outlets, it was always in the back of my mind that there was a slight possibility that Favre could end up in New York. well that slight chance came into fruition at roughly 11:45 pm EST on August 6 2008
My initial reaction is I am not particularly happy with this. I feel the Jets were headed in the right direction under the management of head coach Eric Mangini and GM Mike Tannenbaum. They were committed to building for the future with draft picks and free agency. I was thrilled about the offseason they had with the additions of Bubba Franks, Alan Faneca, Randall Gay, Bernard Berrian, Kris Jenkins and of course a solid draft which yielded Vernon Gholston and Dustin Keller among others. This move initially seemed very out of character for the Jets and it worried me.
(quick interlude- thank you chad pennington. always gave it your all despite not being the most talented individual. you leave behind a fanbase with the memory of one of the most magical stretches of games you will ever witness in the world of sports. 2002 season)
Ill cut to the point.....
This move indicates the Jets are ready. They are ready to A) Win Now and B) retake the city from the Giants.
Point B: Obviously the Giants are your Super Bowl XLII Champions. Well last season is over. The Jets have stolen the headlines and despite the direction this pans out..will dominate the headlines in NYC this upcoming season. This is the first step in taking back the city. The rest heavily hinges on how the Giants go about defending their title and if #4 can play up to last years level.
Point A: The Jets are ready to win now. If they have the balls to pull this trade off and bring this massive media circus to the media capital of the world, then as a fan I am expecting a Super Bowl appearance. Sounds crazy with the Patriots in the division, not to mention the Colts Chargers and other viable AFC threats. Sounds crazy with Favre thrown into another world. Super Bowl sounds insane...i know it does. But This move is an "All-In" from the franchise. I am expecting immediate results. The Jest spent major $$ this offseason they capped it off with trading for future HOFer Brett Favre for a 2nd round draft pick. I never thought I would see this happen...but it has.
And I am fully on board.

I enjoyed The Road thoroughly.
Also, good riddance to Favre finally being gone. I love him and he's probably my favorite player I've seen since I started watching football, but it was time for Rodgers to play.

I respect a loyal fan. I thought maybe The Falcons were going to go for him. I would have had to make those same kind of justifications...haha... but I'm glad I don't. Favre is going to have one or two lame seasons outside of Green Bay and probably never walk again before it's all over but if that's what he wants so be it.

Can you imagine what Rodgers was going through this last month?

Good for Aaron Rodgers.

Bernard Berrian is on the Vikings, not the Jets..too bad, he'd make a great target for Favre's arm...
And Randall Gay is on the New Orleans Saints.

This is interesting. I met someone who is like a 2nd cousin to Dan Marino and this chick said Marino was a colossal dick head to everyone.
Can you site specific examples of how Brett treated fans like dicks?? I believe you, I just want to hear specifics.

ya my bad....in my wave of frustration/confusion i googled jets offseason additions and for some reason both those guys were on the list i looked at. i actually remembered the berrian thing and thats why i came back to check this thread out. he verbally agreed to a deal with the jets but then went behind their back and signed with the Vikings
