For real.  I am from California and coming to texas for the summer has really opened my eyes.  Law enforcement is out of control.  You have no say in anything (especially for minors which I am not).  For instance, if your a minor and you get caught speeding 15 miles over the speed limit you have to pay like $275 in the end and go to court.  Your parent also must appear in court with you or else they face a misdemeaner?  WTF is that lol.  In CA thats like a $100 fine if you even get pulled over.  The speed limits here are about 70% of that in CA and all the drivers suck because they have grown up in this system where the people must be super submissive to the State.  People are AFRAID of breaking or bending laws or rules around here.  It is very sad.  All I can say is I am glad I didn't grow up here and my kids wont have to either.  If you live in Texas I feel soory for you, because in CA you have a voice.  In texas if you try to speak up they will probably kill you for treason.  Did you know that in this town when a cop pulls you over, he doesn't have to pull you to the shoulder or anything, he can just stop in the middle of the fucking road and block off two lanes if he feels like it.  Then when you call him a dick he puffs up his chest like it's his right to fuck over every tax-payer on the road at the moment. 

Another thing, you have to say a pledge of allegience to the Texas flag in school and if you don't you get sent to the office.  My poor brother (who is also from California and hates the hubrous state of Texas).

This has been my rant about how texas is lame.  Enjoy :smile: 

Seriously though, it often takes me several extra minutes to get to work because some dumbass cop has pulled someone over in the middle of the road, causing tons of people to be late for work and hurt the economy.

It really depends on what county you are in, as to the way the legal system treats you. That said, yes most of Texas sucks balls. Austin is really one of the only places worth living.

What part of Texas did you go to?  To be honest I get away with all kinds of shit when cops are involved.  I should have a lot longer rap sheet than I do.  Just don't be a dick and the cops will treat you right.

ohhh fuck dont get me started on williamson, jesus fucking christ, born and raised to fear/hate copes here. always have to keep my eye out for shit. was once busted in my buddies own backyard, cops just busted in(but they couldnt make sense of my pedro syrup, so the bitch threw it out  :rolleyes:).

Dallas area suburb. I come from a very liberal place in CA next to a UC so its a total cultural shock for me. I'm sure it isn't like this everywhere but it's the impression that I get. (Also, I am sure that where I am from is like no place in the US...)

Maybe it's just because I'm so hot, but I've gotten so many warnings, and plain just bein let of the hook. When I was under 21 I was at at least 7-8 parties where cops busted it and they just told me to go home or don't drive.

Actually, a couple of months before I was 21 I got shitfaced drunk at a cop's house, and he let me drive home.

Larger cities in TX are a tad cooler: San Antonio, Dallas, Houston, and especially Austin. There cops don't really have time to joke around with stoners and speeders; they have real crimes to deal with. That being said, smaller urban towns are a BITCH; they don't have shit better to do than mess with kids.

The pledge? Eh. I said it, and so did everyone else, but no one took it seriously. If I have to say a few words every morning to shut up some loon conservative, I'm cool with that.

Also, don't think cops are only dicks in Texas. Small towns anywhere offer up a million varieties of pig. Ego-centric assholes can be found anywhere, they just happen to have stopped in Texas for a while.

If memory serves me correctly CA is not that enjoyable either. My sister lives in SF and it sucks. Bunch of asians and gay people.

Austin is definately the best for the pig situation. Festivals like Marley fest and Eeyore's birthday are so chilled out, never see a cop there. They just hire the rent a cops and let everyone get stoned.. good stuff.

Dallas is snotty. No one likes Dallas. I've never had an issue with the Houston cops. They've always been very nice to me. One even walked my dog home when she got out to make sure she got home okay.

No, several instances I've been to parties in Waco with apparent minors three sheets to the wind just talkin to cops out in the street. Never have I seen an MIP, DUI, PI, MIC, or anything else there. They figure all those rich Baylor kids can just have their parents pay it off, so they don't mess with them. Lubbock kinda sucks too.

Ok people..

I live in the DFW area and let me tell you. I haven't really had much trouble with cops unless your a total douche bag. If you are courteous and admit to your fault's you general don't have a problem.

I've never been pulled over for no reason.. I pretty much deserved it each time. I don't live in denial

I've been let go on many tickets just by saying I'm sorry.

Now the rant on the laws well then you may have a point. TX traffic laws are pretty tough. Also one of the worst places to get a DWI. Don't do that shit.

In my experience though.. cops are cops no matter where you live.

Boo fucking whoop I'm from Cali I got a ticket.
Thats what i think.

p.s. Nobody in TX knows how to drive. I think thats why the laws are so strict

True that. Cops are cops. They don't change to much from place to place. In this county anyways. Once you get outside of America, to places wher the laws are differant, and the pay, and training are differant, than you'll see what facism is.

People take kindly to curtesy expecialy officers. Expecially down south. Its yes sir, no sir, sorry sir, I saw that I was speeding my mind was off in another place. Sorry about that, i will be more concious of the road. kinda deal. Cops are cops in every state. They do what they are told to do and you are to do the same.

I live in a town outside of Dallas, never had any trouble,
as far as speeding goes, get a toll tag, and use the toll roads.
Usual speed is 75-85, with no traffic usually.

its not that bad in texas...ya the cops are kinda bad....but i thought that was everywhere? you dont have to say the pledge....maybe if your a little kid and you dont express yourself....i just graduated...i never said the pledge just sat while people stand. No biggy.....dont think of it as im anti-god...infact im agonostic...i just dont want to stand every morning and drone the same words every day....its stupid..... :smile: anyways just thought id thorw my 2 cents in...but...wait a tick....if you ask me a penny for you thoughts.....and i give u my 2 cents....where does the extra cent go? ...sorry for the lame joke....just bored

Feel free to move back to commie-fornia anytime. That state has more stupid laws and special interest groups than any other state I know of. If you learn how to drive and probably drop the "My state is better" attitude you will get alot further here.

I have lived in Texas pretty much my whole life and have never had a problem with anything you are talking about. Infact if you know how to act you can get away with alot. I have also lived in down town Dallas with no issues with the cops. Crack heads yes, cops no. There is a grow shop on mainstreet and you can smoke joints in alot of places as long as you keep it low key.

Also in defense of cops I know Gay and Ex-Pothead cops in this area. One of the cooler cops I know opened up a bar in my home town and we would talk about doing Acid often.

LA. Now there is a shit hole. Bad air. Bad people.
