yea i was on teh right path but i cant seem to get ide to come up anymore. jsut the black screen and i tried some command script and wont do anything jsut exit and re log in.. i may just be handy capped

knoppix. its a live cd so no installation necessary and it supports many many wireless cards. was designed primarily for wireless hacking actually.

what is the make/model of the card you use?

ndiswrapper isnt necessary for alot of cards. I have a linksys wmp54g v4 that uses the rt2500 driver from http://rt2x00.serialmonkey.com - works great with wpa. no need for ndiswrapper or wpa_supplicant.

i am using the linksys card WPC54GS i am now on mepis. i really am lost despite the late night of reading and attempting different things. i got the driver from linksys adn ndiswrapper cant seem to get it to open or work....

alright running ubuntu now i386. updated everthing like in that tutorial. tried to run ndiswrapper will not work tried all the command lines and package openign software no luck. teh card is linksys card WPC54GS. thanks for all your help.

you probably dont need ndiswrapper

do this:

sudo nano /etc/apt/sources.list

copy/paste this:

well that worked but i think it does nto recognize that my card is there. when it says its trying to connect there is no blinking on the "link"

i dont want to even try adn think about java and other pluggins. man ive learned alot but still have no idea because nothings working hahaaha thanks again

ps tried a vista beta that didnt work either
