Facial Piercings
    #6030779 -

I'm starting my new job at a corporate restaurant tonite and I have to take out my eyebrow ring.  I've been putting it off and putting it off...but now I have to do it.

I'm really unimpressed.  I know its just a little piece of jewelery, but it's been in my face for like 2 years and I love it so much.  It's a part of me.  People still compliment me on it.  Even old people.  It's a conversation starter and it's MINE.

How dare they tell me that I have to take it out?  I could decline the job, I guess...but I don't think that is a very reasonable option.  Maybe I can put it back in?  But I can't be taking it out and putting it back in every day, I imagine that would probably irritate the delicate skin around my eyeball.

This sucks.  :frown:

You could bandaid it. I had a septum piercing for almost 5 years, i could put in a different piece and flip it up my nostrils when i had to conceal it.

Well if you're looking for a "middle of the road" approach, you could just leave it in, go to the job, and see what happens...

There are small clear plastic retainers for all piercings. They're not any more noticable than the already existing holes in yer brow.

Meh, it sucks but welcome to "adult life". You have to play by their rules sometimes.

did you sign anythign saying you couldn't wear the ring? If they hired you already and then fired you because of it wouldn't that be discrimination of some sort?

One of the guys who works at the Blockbuster I go to takes his out everytime he's at work. I can see the hole, and one time I saw him walking down the street and he had a ring in it.

Get over it.

I lost a nose ring, labret, and dreds for my job.

And I hate my fucking job.

I hear ya...I had to take out my eyebrow ring and my labrette as well when I started working as a corporate whore. Now I'm senior enough that I am contemplating getting them both pierced again...:)

No. I will not get over it. That's like giving up. This is MY face. My personality. My freedom.

That sucks that you hate your job, but that's your deal. Maybe you should get over it and make some new goals.

The government tells you that smoking pot is illegal and wrong, do you do it? Probably. Just under the radar. I'm going to try and fly under the radar, too... because I refuse to forgo MY FREEDOMS.

Look, i'm not trying to get into a flame war or some shit,

but there's a distinction.

They hire you, they pay you, they don't have to do either if you can't follow a dress code.

Which plants I smoke, well... that's up to me.

Kid Orgo is right

that doesnt mean that i agree that companys should make people remove their piercings and whatnot, but that is their right and freedom to do so since, like it has been said before, its a privately owned business, and they are paying you to be there and do a job... a dress code is just a part of the standards they are holding you to

if you dont like it, either find a job elsewhere, or start your own business...

What about the freedom of the person who owns the place to enforce a dress code?
