to pierce? or not to pierce? THAT is the question!

who here has a lip piercing? I am thinking about getting my lip pierced. Not quite a labrette.. a bit higher up.. just below the bottom part of the lip. I don't know what it is called.. cuz I am not really all that into piercings.. But I got my nipples done over a month ago, and now I want my lower lip done. I am just curious if anyone has had that done.. and if so.. does it leave a scar if you take it out? Did it get infected? How bad did it hurt compared to other piercings.. etc.. pictures would be sweet too.. anyone?

don't do it eh goobs.. lol.. Yarry (my bf) has the labrette.. I love it on a guy.. but for a girl.. i like it on the lower lip.. i want it but i'm worried about possible bad scaring if have to take it out for a job down the road.. and sorry Muppet.. no nip piercing shots from me.. I'm reserved like that :tongue:

The side of my lip hurt like a motherfucker but my labret was cake.  If you're going slightly higher you may be getting into some tougher tissue, which means you'll feel that needle ripping through each and every layer :lol:

Had my le bret done... the only thing I have to show for it is a tiny little hole (indent) on where it was. It hurt more to stretch the hole than it did to pierce. I'd do it again but have to leave it out for work.

Pierce, you can always take it out. I currently have 7 myself. Both lobes, eyebrow, tongue, both nipples and a prince albert. I want to get more but i have run out of locations that i would like to pierce. The next body mod for me is gonna be the tool third eye tattoo on my back.

any reason u want the whole lip thing? you should go for something more original, like a forehead piercing linked by a long thin chain to your wallet! :grin:

it is the only facial piercing that I would even consider.. eyebrow rings are out done.. and leave a horrible scar.. and a nose ring is ok.. but I'm not really feeling it.. dont want the tongue ring anymore.. plus my tongue is too short anyway.. but i find the one below the lip VERY sexy :wink:

if you say you are piercing higher than the labret, be careful... as soon as you hit the lip are it hurts LIKE A BITCH...

and it does leave a little scar... but it's othing a 3 day stubble wouldn't be able to cover...

i say go for it...


edit: sorry about the 3 day stubble... i somehow assumed you were a guy (as most people on this site are)... but well... being a female gives you a great advantage.... you have a higher threshold for pain...

btw... i heard somewhere that the nipples hurt less for girls than they do for guys... is that true? cuz my nipple piercings hurt like hell

iv heard that too. my lobes hurt more than my nipples. my lobes were pierced at 12 then stretched right a way to 10. that might have something to do with it.
for me it went pa>lobes>nipples>tongue>eyebrow

I had my lower lip done, but off to the side. I took it out after about a year or so. There's still a small mark where it was, but it's not noticeable at all, since it's right under the line where my lip ends. It didn't hurt much having it done, and didn't hurt much while it was healing. My fiance pierced his when he was 15 with a sewing needle, and still has it in. I liked mine at first, but grew very bored with it pretty quickly. Here's a picture





One issue I had with it was, I have a real problem playing with piercings around my mouth - I had my tounge done for like 5-6 years and wound up having to take it out because I was scraping the enamel off my teeth. With my lip ring, I would bite it and twist while playing with it, and it made it awfully sore sometimes.
