Identify these english shrooms
    #6025430 -

Hi, Ive been out picking and found a small amount of shrooms, I devided them up into groups and I would be very greatful if you could help ID them so I can pick these species with confidence over the autumn.

1. these shrooms caps are very distinctive and are about a cm in diameter, they are slightly blue in colour and were found in compost growing alone

2. these i found in the compost and appear dry, they are brown and have a scaley texture, ones cap has turned up slightly.

3.a&b I found these in a cow field, they have a slightly darker brown ring on the bottom compared to the slightly more yellow tops. i split them due to the different colour. if i had to guess ide say they were Panaeolus subbalteatus. one has a nipple on the top.

4. these were found in a cow feild and bruise blue/black. They appear to be Psilocybe semilanceata, but i wouldnt gamble hospitalisation over it :P

So please give me some expertese here, im dying to try em

1, 2 & 4 look to be Coprinus species (non active.) The rest don't look of much use either...

This is coming from a Brit

is there a manual focus? it seems like your camera is focusing on the background. Anyway, I see some Ink caps, and other possible conocybes. When you found those shaggy ones in number 4, did you happend to find any really young ones? Although, I'm only familiar with american fungi.

The inky goo substance is the result of the rapid decomposition process of mushrooms within the genus Coprinus. So,the caps of 1 and 4 specimens (hard to tell with the ones in 2) should turn into a mess.

3a and 3b appear to be some species of Panaeolus, however, better photos and a spore print will be required for further identification.

You read my mind, well, minus the Brit part

1, 2, and 4= Coprinus. Toss them.

For 3, get prints and we'll work from there.

Also, where are you located? What country/region?

Edit: Erm, I'm an idiot. Just read the subject of the post again. I'm guessing you found them England  :smirk:

hi, ive taken some spore samples, just having trouble finding either my old microscope or a bloody good magnifying glass.. I wonder if i left the heads on a fertiliser block and let the spore fall onto em, then wet them and left em in the greenhouse if they would grow?

Im in south east england, I live in a valley but the shrooms were all growing just outside of the valley on the top of a hill.

**I have chucked the ink caps, From various pics i have seen im pretty sure 3 are lib caps, ill send more pics when i can see the spore sample

You could try, but there's no guarantee. Probably, some other fungus will infect the substrate (most likely some sort of coprinus) before your spores get a good chance.

Judging by the photos you posted, I'm pretty sure they're not liberty caps, but you can try to ID them yourself. There are lots of good descriptions of liberty caps online, which you can use to check your finds.
