Well my bro found it this morning in a yard. Its 10 cm height and it growed all in one night...
Can someone identify it, or at least give a try? Is it edible? It smells good known shroomy smell...
PEACE

Yes! They are called 'yellow-staining mushrooms' in Australia and they are highly poisonous for the same reasons that Death-caps are

As always, a spore print would be of great help. Just looking at it, the appearance of the ring suggests Leucoagaricus naucina, although it could also be an Agaricus. Get a spore print.

Yellow Staining Mushroom, Agaricus xanthodermus - It can cause quite severe digestive disturbances so should not be eaten.

If the gills darken, we will need to know about the odor and any bruising reaction, especially near the base of the stem. Given the number of people who think it's Agaricus xanthodermus, you should check. Cut the stem in half vertically, then use your knife to abuse the cut flesh near the base of the stem. If it is Agaricus xanthodermus, the flesh will bruise strongly yellow (watch for a couple minutes). You should also smell the base of the stem after you bruise it - A. xanthodermus usually smells strongly of phenol (or library paste, or a metallic smell).

if it is an A. xanthodermus be forewarned, they have been known to cause violent bleeding diarrhea.

Hello all. it seems that TOXICMAN earns the prize of a good mushroom rating. imho he is right, its a LEUCOAGARICUS NAUCINUS; apart from what you can also see in the following picture, this mushroom was found on grass and it also fits the season and the size. Also if it is bruised, it turns brown not yellow. The smell is not of something bad; i think it smells similar to agaricus bisporus. My conclusion doesnt mean i am going to eat it though; there is no reason to do it. any other opinions will be much appreciated!!! sorry for the bad quality of the pic, it is scanned on a agfa flatbed scanner... the gills remained white after the dropping of spores. why? because the spores are white... lol T H A N X T O A L L !!! idea: how about having contests in mushroom identification? that may be a cool idea... as i see there are too many people in here who know so much about the identification of those little creatures! Well thats what i found on the hiddenforest site: http://www.hiddenforest.co.nz Species: Leucoagaricus naucinus (Fr.) Singer Completely off-white with a bulbous base. Bruises brown when damaged Synonyms: Lepiota naucina, L leucothites Common Name: Smooth parasol Found: Grassy places, side of road, lawns, parks etc. Substrate: Ground Spore: White Height: 80 mm Width: 55 mm Season: Late summer to early winter Edible: Yes, can be easily confused with one of the poisonous Amanitas The pic is a direct link to the hiddenforest site It seems to me that this description is very well close to the first pic i uploaded dont you think? especially the "easily confused" part. The reason i make the link to this pic is because i think the mushroom that was found is a Leucoagaricus naucinus and i want to show how differently might an amateur's pic look like when compared to those "encyclopaedic" pictures found on the net or color books. Btw those sites are very cool, but unfortunately it is very difficult to search from scratch, imho Have a nice weekend ! Kykeon athens, greece

yeah, i do have a picture book for YOUR area [uk] lol but the only greek books available are so primitive... imagine that they describe paneolus mushrooms as dangerous because they contain psilocybin which can cause death to humans... whatever... but there are some pics there, i am not saying that those books are completely useless, its just that they offer so little and some of the knowledge in there is wrong and i know that, even if i am amateur, so can i trust 100% the info i dont know?
