any readers here?
    #5999475 -

I just bought Tom Clancys splinter cell: operation barracuda...so far so good...but what got me into tom clancy being this is my first book of his was that he made these splinter cell games and I read a book by Stephen Coonts called flight of the intruder which mentioned Clancys work in a few parts of the book as well as having an excerpt from coonts new book liars and thieves which reminded me of Clancys great games...It also mentions the sum of all fears...
Any opinions on clancy books?
likes or dislikes?
Which has the most espionage action out of all of them?
and also im downloading the hunt for red october with sean connary from limewire any comments on this movie?

No harm can come from questioning. "Best" case scenerio: You prove it right without relying on the fact that it is widely accepted. Argument strengthened. "Worst" case scenerio: You realize you might have been wrong. The new answer might or might not be what you want to hear, but it beats defending yourself with bullshit.

Clancy's fiction i certainly enjoy. Any time you read his nonfictional accounts of wars/battles past though they are boring. Far too in detail etc for the average reader to enjoy. Read the Rainbow Six book, he wrote that. Another good book by him is "The Teeth of the Tiger" Very good read!

I read Rainbow Six and I liked it a lot. Never read any of his other books, but I think he does a good job of writing special ops military-based novels. Other than that though, I think he's just a clever guy who can come up with good storylines and keep the setting believable.

Red Storm Rising is Clancy's best book.

Are there any other covert op writers that can rival clancy or coonts that could also clench my thirst for espionage?

I am more of a Patricia Cornwell, Stephen King, Dean Koontz, John Grishm, Iris Johanson kind of reader. I am reading Velocity, by Koontz right now, and it is rather good.

No real favorite author, but some authors I'd like to explore more are Thomas Pynchon, Haruki Murakami, Salvador Plascencia (kind of hard since he has about one novel), and Emerson just so I can mercilessly rip on him
