Telling on people 'in house' will do no good, but telling those who actually pay the bills, i think they will treat the chef like he treats the reg employees.  I don't care about catching hell at work, I already do.  If anything, I think if i wrote the letter, the chef would not say a word to me.

I'm in a state that keeps busting housing contractors with illegal workers.

Corporate told him MANY times to get rid of the illegals, and he knowingly re-hired the same people, just under different names and ss#'s  That has to be suborning fraud.  How can you look at the person you just let go 2 weeks ago, and hire them under a different name?

As far as karma; I totally believe in karma, and it is the only reason i have not done anything yet, but how would i be in the wrong?

I do my job, I am polite even when i don't want to be, This guy is a tyrant who does whatever he feels is correct.  He doesn't care about the illegals, but he does know that he can pay them less than legal worker would expect for the same job, he can also talk to them like complete shit, because no one wants to argue with someone in there second language.

I like our illegals, I just don't like the chef, he is a shitty cook, and a worse person.  He has the mentality that 'if they hate me at least they respect me', but that is not true.

So would the real karma be: hey he helped fix a problem at his old job, so now he gets a good job.

As far as a good reference?  have you ever worked at any restaurant?  They do not check references, and there is no reason to give me a bad reference anyway.
Just go to the job interview, clean cut and look the employer right in the eye and tell them you work hard, always show up on time, never call in, and don't do coke or have any other drug problem.   ANY real manager would look at you cock-eyed, think about your statements, and hire you on the spot.

Not to many resturant employees can claim those things.

I pretty much just wanna fuck with this guy, like he has been fucking with me for the past 3 years.  The only difference is, i got real shit to talk about, and he's got squat.  I have nothing to lose, and he has everything.  I think everyone of my current co-workers would support my claims, but i don't even care what they think, This guy needs to be put in his place.

Hiring illegals because you can pay them less, and yell at them more is hardly upstanding.  Debreifing and talking down to people is not a good personality trait.  None of these things help me to make money at work.  The only reason i go to work is to make money.  Being in a better work enivorment would be better for me, and my fellow co-workers, no matter if i keep working there or not.

If they provide the information (I.D. and SS#s) the only way to find out if it's wrong is to fill out an I-9 and you can only file an I-9 if you hire them. If the I-9 comes back saying the SS# is wrong that is not grounds to fire them. If you do you could be facing a discrimination suit. What you do is ask them to correct the SS#. Now if it's company policy (in the employee handbook) to fire someone after X number incorrect SS# then yes you've got good grounds to fire them.

The restaraunt you work for I'm sure has their bases covered. You'll only make yourself look bad.

It's not so cut and dry. If you've ever tried to fire one you'd know it's a little more complicated than you'd think.

Just leave gracefully from your current employer, go work somewhere else and maybe they'll be a good reference. Either that or lose the last 3 years of work history.
