rye grass seed or rye berries

alrighty, I'm trying to come up with a list of grains to use for my first non pf grow. I was considering either wbs, popcorn, or rye. however with rye, I know both rye grass seed and rye berries can be used, but one is for sclerotia moreso than making spawn. which is which?

Most growers use rye grass seed for sclerotia production, but I've actually grown more/larger stones with rye berries for some reason.

Rye grass seed is great for spawn masters because when you use it for G2G, you have many more points of inoculation, but rye grass seed is not for beginners due to its specific mositure/hydration requirements. My spawn of choice is organic rye berries.
