good point. A wedding ring is supposed to have meaning behind it. I see no point putting a lab grown cubic in the place of something that was formed over a million years ago. There is symbolism behind using gold and jewls.

Don't they only take thousands of years? There are so many diamonds in the world, more than gold and platinum combined, it's actually a very common gem, but cutting it and shaping it is what you're paying for, if you think about it. I've seen a pile of diamonds the size of dumptrucks.

i don't really like gold... i prolly wouldn't wear the ring on my finger anyway.. i'd stick it on a necklace or something.. i don't like wearing rings. my parents never wore rings, still don't... i dunno... it's just not THAT important to me.. on any grand scheme what so ever.

yeah but most dimonds like any other gem have inclusions and imprefections. Its not easy finding "gem" quality dimonds. Hell diamonds are used in lots of industrial aplicaions. They are one of the hardest minerals on this planet.
Its not easy cutting a diamond.

They take millions of years. They are made from carbon from dead animals and plants and prolly dinasours from way way way way way back in time. or maybe not.

meh, the whole situation just seems ridiculous to me.. there is no reaosn i would ever expect a guy to buy me an expensive ring to signify anything. All i'd want from the guy i would marry is for them to love me and treat me well. If they promise this and do it.. then i'm happy and no ring could make much of a difference.
