If your boyfriend gave you an engagement ring, would you be offended if it was a cubic zirconia instead of a real diamond?

I say No.
Not as long as he phucks the shit outta me to make up for it.
There are other things he can buy me over the years, that would mean more to me than a diamond.
ie. a new bass amp.

No. Sometimes money is hard and I'm understanding of this. Besides, it's not really about the ring. IMO

I figure as long as he comes clean about it being fake, and doesn't try to LIE about it, I wouldn't care.

Very good point in deed. It would make all the difference in the world. Especially under strained financial circumstances.

Keep in mind that most ladies haven't travelled into the land of Psychedelia. Not that it means anything, but it could.

Depends on the financial situation. When my hubby wanted to propose he almost got the CZ but we found a killer deal on eBay. It's all about the loving'

Depends on the financial situation. If my man couldn't afford a real ring, for all I care it could come from a cracker jax box. But if he COULD, and was just being a jew, then I'd be kinda pissed.

It's about the feeling behind it more than anything else. If it makes a huge difference in the relationship whether or not it's a real diamond, then your valuing the ring more than the relationship. I would love my boyfriend/fiance the same way if it were a 3,000 dollar ring or if it was tin foil [an onion ring is also acceptable =D ] as long as the love is still behind it.

If my girlfriend expected any kind of expensive ring at all for engagement or marriage, I would dump her immediately.

my gf isnt with me for my money(more like the other way around) jk but she expects a "real" engagement ring. you two get in some drunk argument and the truth comes out get your girl something real doesnt have to be big but if its real it makes it more official. diamonds are a girls best friend. trust me shell be on your dick.

If you are up front and honest about it, it will be easier. And as long as you don't go and buy yourself a plasma screen TV instead, it shouldn't be the problem. How about skipping the CZ anyways. There are lots of colorful (and way cheaper) stones/gems than diamonds out there, who said the ring had to be a diamond anyway.
But whatever you do don't lie. That will get you in way more trouble. Girls can tell!
And if she gets pissed that it isn't a diamond, then maybe your girl needs to open her eyes and see the world as less materialistic.

What if he does it for ethical reasons(i.e. not wanting to get conflict diamonds)?
