Mitch Hedburg RIP


Please share a situation in which you've been in that you have used a Mitch Hedburg joke..successfully or not



My most recent was after the RADIOHEAD show at BONNAROO the crowd was so packed, someone said something about protesting then I said, "I hate protesting I just dont know how to show it." Some guy next to me turned around and said, "Mitch" I just nodded

Good thread

I recall a Comedy Central special where I was first introduced to Mitch.  I was hooked to his brilliant yet odd take on comedy. 

When I was in high school one of the first times I took mushrooms I was in the woods.  Why did we go to the woods?  To avoid the long arm of the law and to get away from the city. 

Mitch made this joke and I thought about it while walking around. 

"When we were on acid we would go into the woods; because when you were in the woods trippin' there was less likely a chance you'd run into an authority figure ... but we ran into a bear; that was even more of a buzz-kill. My friend Duayne was standing there raising his right hand swearing to help prevent forest fires. We got away from the bear, he put his arm around my shoulder and said to me "Mitchell, Smokey is way more intense in person."

My friend and myself always recite Hedberg's one liners. 

If you get lost in the woods, fuck it, build a house! I used to be lost, but now I live here! I have severely improved my predicament

I wrote a script for a guy, and he said he liked it but he thought that I needed to rewrite it. I said, "Fuck that, I'll just make a copy."

Hedberg could be heard as the voice of Jimmy John's radio advertisements during the months leading up to and after his death. (Since his name was never used in the ads, the company likely felt there was no need to pull the ads after he died.) He also was the voice of the Atlanta Thrashers "Hockey Love" ad campaign in 2002-2003. Every performance of the Insomniac tour, headed by Hedberg friend and former tourmate Dave Attell, featured a toast to Hedberg at the end of the show.

Yeah, I have had it for a while on my hard drive.

Thanks I think it's fitting because it finds comedy even in his death.

^ yes you can get that tribute tee which I just saw tonight on his site...def one of the first jokes I heard that made me know Mitch was a comedic genious
