73 qt blue tub with blue lid?

This is all I have to use as a chamber. Will this be okay to fruit in?

I have a growbag on the way (3lbs rye) and a 15lb bag of worm castings.. I plan on mixing the worm castings with verm for casing as well.

I want to do the mono tub method unless someone with more experience has a better idea?

Will 3lbs of spawn be enough for this tub?
Will the tub even work since it isn't clear?

Any other help for a newbie is appreciated.

probably not enough unless you spawn it to poo, a 1:5 (spawn:poo) ratio is good which will give you about 3-4 inches of substrate (just a guess)

the tub will do fine, it's better that it's a solid

that tub will work out fine as long as you have enough substrate to fill the bottom at least 4" thick. and enough casing material to get a 1/2" (i dont go over 1/2" just from personal experience, everyone says something diff though). i know w/ horse poo 5 lbs of ten stud will do a 12" x 12" x 4" area roughly if that helps give you an idea of what will be needed.

if you don't think you'll have enough substrate material you can always put it into smaller containers and place them in your mono tub. but w/ a container that big you might want to put some perlite on the bottom just to help keep the humidity up some, since it has such a large area to it..

as for the tub being solid it will work just fine. i would get some plexy glass and cut out a hole in the lid and silicone the plexy glass in place and while your waiting for your substrate to colonize just cover the plexy glass window you put in w/ tin foil, thats what i do and never had a problem.

and your gonna get side pins w/ a clear or solid tub unless you line the sides w/ aluminum foil or a trash bag. cuz after your first flush your casing is gonna shrink and pull away from the walls of the tub allowing light to get down in the cracks and mushrooms will grow in there.. there is nothing wrong w/ this its just a pain in the ass.. but w/ the tin foil or black bag in there the casing sticks to it so when it shrinks it stays attached to the liner and keeps the light off of it preventing side pins.

just cut a hole in the lid and tape some plexi-glass in it's place.
the solid tub is good, with a window in the top.

If you run short you can always supplement with Coir. Its cheap and easy to get.
