Polyfill!

I've started using LC and WBS teks so I need some sort of air and gas exchange for the jars. So far I only have a few honey water LC's with bigass holes on the lids but I noticed these huge white clumps forming in the jars. Im assuming its contamination because it hasnt even been 5 days since inoculation and there are these gigantic white clumps which dont even break up when I shake the jar.
Anyway I've been looking into using polyfill as a filter for the holes but I have no idea where to get the right shit. The hardware stores here only have the crack filler polyfill. Where the hell do I find pillow polyfill?? I hear walmart has them but the nearest walmarts on the other side of the city so fuck that.
Are there any alternatives I can use to filter the airholes? I was thinking about taping tissue or paper over the hole. Any chance that will work?

Actually, the big white clumps are probably mycelium. They can be hard to break up, that's why you should put a marble or piece of glass or something inside the jar when making the solution. As for pillow polyfil, Wal-Mart or any store with a half-way decent crafts section should have it.

I dont know, some of the clumps appeared the day after inoculation. Plus there was some white shit on the bottom of the jars before I boiled. I cleaned them well enough though.
After simmering the birdseeds about 50% of them turned into yellow mush. Can mycellium still grow on it or will I have to start over?

I found some polyfill type shit in the fish section of the petshop. I couldnt afford the actual "Poly Filler" so I got "Filter Fill" instead. Its not as dense as the poly filler but it looks like the same shit.

There is no substitute for PolyFill I could be wrong.. But I dont think the stuff you got will work.
btw - baby bottle mycellium water rules!! I make em every time.. and Ive only had contams in them after an inoculation. It doesnt seem to need air exchange. Its Microwaved quickly... cant be beat.

Shit I'd be better off just microwaving baby bottles from now on. Way less hassle. Im still gonna need polyfill for my grain jars though. I might just invest in some filter disks. Are the disks reusable or do you have to throw them out eventually?

personally i take my canning jar cut a small hole, and silicone about 1 to 2 inches of 5/8" radiator hose to it. i then silicone a filter patch over the hose, and then sterilize. i see no reason you cant just stuff the hose with polyfill though. good luck. LC is the only to go.
i have used my filter disk meny times again, and again
