they look like they might be active, perhaps some old Panaeolis, but im a noob, so dont trust my oppinion....just thought id put in my two bits.

Don't tell someone their mushrooms are active unless you know.

Those don't look active, or edible.

i told him it was just a speculation. dont need to get all official or anything.

and if he were stupid enough to eat a poisonous mushroom because someone hinted to him, after a warning, that it might possibly, and most likely not, be an active, then he should be poisoned anyways.


i know the rules, and i also know that people have common sense.

im not qualified to attempt to ID anything involving pan cyans cause thats not my turf, but it looks like a coprinus species cause that shits like melting =/

ive seen it on the forum and its still not a pleasent situation, some people will do really stupid things and dont realize how serious dealing with mushrooms can be, thats why its our responsibilty to watch our comments cause not everyones is as educated.

Yep, unfortunately we should usually assume the worst when it comes to common sense and intelligence. Nothing against you specifically hydroponicman! But people will often lose what little common sense they have if they are wishing for active mushrooms.

As the Red Crayon says, those are inky caps. Not active, toss them.

Alrighty then...

They are indeed "Inky Caps", otherwise known as the genus Corpinus.

I disagree with the criticism of Nobhdy's post, I think he was rather clear in stating his uncertainty. I mean, the guess was innacurrate, but I would not blame him for any uncanny decisions made to eat an unidentified mushroom.

That's the best any of us can do. If someone disregards the advice, it is their fault.
No, I am not suggesting that they deserve to be poisoned, but I don't think we can be held responsible.

How could Nobhdy have been any more clear in his hesitation?
