I uninstalled the FAH GUI and downloaded the text version, but mistakingly entered 12976 for the team name and now it always starts without me able to input the correct team. How do I revert my changes?

Hi NewbieShroomie,
To change your team in the console version of FAH, open the 'client.cfg' file in your installation directory with a text editor. You'll see a line like "team=12976", just change it to 12679, save the file, and you'll be good to go the next time you restart. Thanks for joining the Shroomery team and helping out this worthy cause!
Peace,
-Y

Does the console version stay running in the background if I exit out of the DOS program or do I need to leave it in the taskbar? I checked the running processes and FAHCore isn't running. I dunno, I'm picky with my taskbar

The first time you run the console version, there's a configuration option to "run this program as a system service". If you select "yes", it will run without appearing on your task bar. You can run the console with the -configonly flag to change this setting. Note you need the 5.04 beta version of the console for this option to appear.

How do I run the console with the -configonly flag? I could have sworn I selected run as service when I first ran it.

To run with the -configonly flag, you'd go to Start | Run, then enter the path to the console, something like this: "C:\Program Files\Folding@home\FAH504-Console.exe" -configonly
You can check if you selected 'run as service' when you first installed. Click Start | Settings | Control Panel | Administrative Tools | Services. See if there's a service called 'FAH@C:+SomePath+On+Your+Computer'. If so, you're all set. You can close the console window and Folding@home will continue running in the background.

I went into msconfig to see if it was a service and it is, it just says it's stopped. I'll just reinstall lol.

Okay well I reinstalled it and made it a service and it still stops running in the background when I exit the window. I'll try restarting, maybe that'll work.

Cool restarting worked. I guess it needed to be run from startup as a service the first time before it stayed running in the background.
